We’ve been “All Shook Up”celebrating Elvis Week, August 8–16, with a fun-filled day honoring the King of Rock & Roll!

We began the festivities by enjoying some of Elvis’ favorite foods, including the famous peanut butter, banana and bacon sandwiches, delicious banana pudding, and refreshing Pepsi. Our residents had a great time testing their Elvis knowledge with trivia and singing along during a fun game of Name That Tune.

To top it all off, we were treated to an incredible performance by Elvis impersonator Landon James. From the music and moves to the unmistakable Elvis style, Landon had everyone entertained and feeling like they had stepped back in time to experience the King himself!

It was a fantastic celebration filled with music, laughter, great food, and unforgettable memories. We certainly had a day to remember—and Elvis would have been proud!

At Independence Village, we love any opportunity to put our deductive reasoning skills to the test! Most recently, we were transported to Little Italy in New York, where a mysterious murder had taken place—and our residents found themselves among the suspects.

Working together as clever detectives, we questioned each character, listened carefully to their stories, searched for clues, and pieced together the evidence. There were plenty of laughs along the way, but everyone stayed focused on solving the case.

In the end, our very own Nancy N. cracked the mystery, correctly identifying Activity Leader Becca as the character who committed the murder! The case was officially solved, proving once again that our residents have sharp minds, great teamwork, and a knack for detective work. So much fun had by all!

What a wonderful time we had at our Tropical Soirée! From the delicious food to the refreshing tropical drinks, every detail came together perfectly.

For the past several months, our talented residents have been hard at work creating a beautiful quilt in honor of America’s 250th Birthday. Their dedication, creativity, and teamwork have turned this project into a true masterpiece!

A heartfelt thank you to all of the ladies who contributed their time and talents to make this quilt so special.

What a wonderful weekend for a BBQ! We celebrated all of the amazing men of the Village with delicious burgers and brats fresh off the grill. A special thank you to Paul for being our grill master and making the day extra special. We are grateful for all of the amazing men in our community and wish everyone a very Happy Father's Day!

“Our history, Their lives” is an opportunity to share and preserve our residents’ memories, honor their wisdom and remind everyone that history lives within the people we serve everyday.
