A memory popped up this week from my son’s graduation, and reading it again reminded me of something important:
We often see the achievements, celebrations, and milestones but we don’t always see the struggle it took to get there.
Behind many accomplishments are battles with physical health, mental health, grief, trauma, loss, self-doubt, exhaustion, or simply trying to survive difficult seasons of life. Sometimes people are doing everything they can just to make it through the day.
If you’re someone who didn’t reach a milestone in the timeline you hoped for, please know you are not alone.
Your setbacks do not define your worth.
Your story is not over. Healing, growth, and meaningful moments can still come from the messiest chapters of life.
Be kind to yourself in the meantime. The path may look different than you imagined, but different does not mean failure.
Watching my son persevere through years of challenges reminded me that strength is not always obvious from the outside. Sometimes it looks like taking things one day at a time, continuing to show up and try again after setbacks, or simply refusing to give up when life feels heavy.
I hope whatever is weighing you down, you become free from it someday and until then, I hope you remember you don’t have to carry it alone. We’re here for you.💜
