Seeing how well older dogs respond to chiropractic care has been my biggest surprise doing this work!

We’ve had dogs bounce back from a pain episode to live comfortably for another year or two!
We’ve had dogs be able to come off heavy pain meds and maintain on standard pain control!
We’ve had dogs get mobile to enjoy their last few months in less pain!

I was anxious to treat older dogs at first thinking I couldn’t help them but over the years I’ve learned the techniques that they can tolerate comfortably and that keep them moving!

🐎if you’ve been working with other horse professionals on an issue, and adjustment is probably a good idea!
🐎once a foot is on the mend from a problem, it’s a good time to get your horse cleared out!

More lovely soaps coming to the office. I just love making soap, these all have a tallow base from some meat harvests (either deer or beef or pork) because using all the animal is the best way to respect it. I cannot believe the chemicals we put on our skin. You don’t need it. You’re beautiful. Just enjoy a nourishing lather and take it easy.

🐴horses move back to front, midline symptoms can be generated at either end of the spine
🐴adjust and clear every joint at each adjustment! We don’t know where his pinch is, maybe it was the tiny pop out of his left pastern that had been hurting, maybe it was his withers, we are making our best guesses with non verbal patients

Dr. Jessi with Cultivate Health Chiropractic will be here at 9am Wednesday morning for a bit of an emergency call for us. We would love to find her a few more horses, dogs, or humans to work on and make her trip worth the drive! 🦴 animals don’t have the same type of frontal lobe as people, they don’t ruminate or have internal dialogue like we do;remove the pain and they go back to normal quickly

Young horses need care too!
Training brings a whole new level of musculoskeletal demands to young horses. There are also usually some crashes and exciting moments too!
Adjustments during and after big training efforts are important to keep your horse moving comfortably and finding ease in their work.

Just like in people there are common joint problems and rare joint problems in animals.

There are levels of injury that will respond to conservative are and injuries that need rest or other treatments to heal.

If I get called to a farm “to just pop their hip/shoulder back in because they hurt their leg and are limping”, chances are in severe injury cases I will be leaving recommending they have a vet check it and then call me back. Ruling out the big bad ugly diagnoses is important sometimes.

Arthritis and mild tendon strains do great adding in chiropractic care. Also my owners who call saying, “they have been limping and I can tell now their whole body is off and they need realigned” understand that my treatment is for the horses whole system not to just treat an injury.

This young horse unfortunately has so much damage she is being switched to a brood mare track. We adjusted her body to rebalance her after her initial training, and I adjusted above and below the knee to bring ease to the front leg.

Is my horse being bad because of pain or just being bad? This is a common dialogue I have most days working with horses.
🐎 i generally believe if a horses back hurts you will see abdominal muscles and gluteal muscles react when movement occurs, just like when people have a low back spasm.
🐎horses have lots of behavioral quirks because we keep them in human environments and expect human processes from them. Also most of us aren’t lucky enough to work our horses all day so they’re being handled lightly.
🐎this horse was seen by a vet who thought his movement looked fine and recommended films in the future but had no treatment or treatment plan for the back soreness.
🐎 we discussed a treatment plan based off my tenant that now that it’s moving, keep it moving. We did his adjustment which allowed his lower back to start loosening up, they’re going to do a few days of pain management and then add a joint supplement. And meanwhile do a good week of long hand walks to try and help the back relax more. We also discussed a plan if it doesn’t clear for how to recheck with the vet to get the most info.

🐴 horses move in diagonal pairs, high level riders will feel imbalances in these movements long before we have a true lameness that needs a veterinarian
🐴chiropractic helps correct these before a big problem occurs
🐴we don’t always get to know where exactly in the movement the horse is hurting, that’s why I clear the whole horse each adjustment
🐴please consider OTTB’s for your next endurance horse!! This big guy runs circles around the other horses out in the field. It’s a wonderful second career choice for these great athletes.
