Chad Ray is one of our graduates, and we are honored to share his recovery story with you.
“I have 11 months of sobriety, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share a little bit of my story.
Before coming to Samaritan Colony, I was drinking every day. My marriage was failing, my relationships were terrible, and everyday life was becoming too much for me to handle. I knew I wanted a better life, but I didn’t know how to get there.
When I came into Samaritan Colony, I was afraid and desperate for help. I knew something had to change, and I was finally willing to look for a different way to live.
One of the biggest changes in my recovery has been mending relationships and learning to be an honest person. I’m learning that trust takes time to rebuild, and I can’t change the past, but I can change how I live today.
Another important part of my recovery has been getting closer to God. My faith and trust in Him have been restored, and I’ve seen doors open that I couldn’t open through my own willpower. I’ve learned that I don’t have to do everything on my own, and I can trust God to guide me through life.
Today, my relationships are better, my faith is stronger, and I’m grateful for the chance to keep growing. I know I still have more to learn, but I’m not where I started.
If I could offer one piece of advice to someone who is struggling, it would be to trust God, work the Steps with a good sponsor, and be honest with yourself and others. You don’t have to have everything figured out. Just be willing to take the next step.
I came into Samaritan Colony afraid and desperate for help. Today, I’m grateful to be sober, grateful for my faith, and grateful for the opportunity to build a better life.
Trust God, work the Steps, and don’t give up on the possibility of a better life.
Thank you for letting me share my story.”
