. . . new year always comes with newfound motivation for self-improvement! ✨

However, most of us are self-aware enough that our New Year’s Resolutions will likely “last” about a month (or up to three if we’re lucky). If this is the case, then why bother?

It is always important to want to continue growing and improving as human beings, but we need a method that will actually foster that growth - and one-word intentions have been my personal and professional go-to method since I discovered them three or so years ago.

What is your one-word intention for 2025? Mine is purpose!

. . . ‘tis the season for reframing our negative self-talk!

How often do you find yourself drifting to the naughty list when reflecting on yourself or your actions? Although it may be tough, and especially although you may not believe it (yet), everyone actually belongs to the nice list!

Practice makes progress when challenging negative self-talk, especially if our goal is to live a calmer, more peaceful and intentional life.

. . . “which part of you am I talking to?” is a question that popped up in the beginning of the book and is not a foreign one for my clients to hear me asking in sessions.

Even in individual therapy, I am never working with solely the client before me. I am also working with their parents, partner, friends, the barista from this morning, and the many past variations of the client - all of whom the client (aka YOU!) are bringing into our therapeutic space to explore and process together.

This book feels like an embodiment of the work we do together!

With that, I am always accepting book or other media recommendations to review and pass along to other clients or clinicians. Comment below what I should read next!

. . . and that’s a wrap for 2024!

Even though Ellipsis Psychotherapy is only a little over a month old, that doesn’t mean I haven’t been working hard with clients this year. It’s been beyond an honor to have been a part of so many people’s journeys this year, as well as them being a part of my mine (as seen with the snipbit above)!

. . . getting lost in the gravy sauce of the “should’s” gratitude is easy during this time of year.

What do I mean by “should’s” gratitude? All the big things we “should” be grateful for in the first slide of this post, which if you are able to be grateful for things on that first list, great! Also great if you are able to find gratitude in the small things (like in the second list) that we easily overlook during our days. Small gratitudes accumulates into the big, feel good gratitudes we’re always seeking!

. . . in preparation of work with my clients and my own self-exploration, I enjoy partaking in books!

I struggle to refrain from recommending books - like the one above - to clients because I find that book recommendations 1) allow clients to continue their journey outside of sessions, 2) create common language between them and myself, and 3) introduce a new voice to further validate their experience.

I always accept book or other media recommendations to review and pass along to other clients or clinicians. Comment below what I should read next!
