After the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990, the first Disability Pride event was held in Boston on July 26th. Since then, it has grown into a month of education, action, and pride across the world. Disability Pride Month aims to dismantle internalized ableist ideals, educate the community on disability’s natural place within the human experience, and advocate for a more inclusive world.

First sneak peak at exciting things happening at MMT's new office: free community art space! Our lobby will be a dedicated display opportunity for local artists. First up we have Pamela Rz () and Susan’s Art. Displaying art in our lobby is completely free with all sales going to the artist, with the option for a portion of sales to go towards Melody's financial accessibility fund to make our services more accessible. Both Susan and Pamela have very generously chosen for a portion of sales to go towards our fund, and Pamela also offers the option for sales to go towards a LGBTQIA2S+ and/or neurodiversity affirming nonprofit. We're so grateful to these two inclusive and creative individuals. Come take a look at these beautiful and vibrant pieces, and support art made by humans!

Autism Acceptance Month's purpose is not to raise awareness, but to honor and highlight Autistic lived experiences, and amplify messages of inclusion and policy/societal change. A common question I get asked about neurodiversity-affirming values is, "but how does this prepare them for 'the real world?'" This is a nuanced question, with many nuanced answers. Here are a few answers to this question that challenges the idea that ND-affirming approaches are "enabling." What are some of your go-to answers?
