Healthy ways to cope with stress:

2. Take care of your body! Staying physically healthy can improve your emotional well-being. Here are some ways to improve your health:

Eat healthy. Have fruits and vegetables, lean protein, whole grains, and low-fat or no-fat dairy. Limit foods with unhealthy fats, salt, and added sugars.

Get enough sleep. Go to bed and wake up at the same time each day to help you sleep better. Adults need 7 or more hours per night.

Move more and sit less. Every little bit of physical activity helps. Start small and build up to 2 ½ hours a week. You can break it into smaller amounts such as 20 to 30 minutes a day.

Healthy ways to cope with stress:

1. Take breaks from news stories. It’s good to be informed, but constant information about negative events can be upsetting. Consider limiting news to just a couple times a day and disconnecting from phone, TV, and computer screens for a while.

Today is National Relaxation Day!

This day is dedicated to encouraging us to slow down and unwind. It's a day to focus on taking care of ourselves and take a moment to relax.

Sean Moeller founded National Relaxation Day in 1985 as a fourth-grader. In an interview with Valerie Monson in The Des Moines Register, Sean suggested people shouldn't do anything of real value on this day, but make time to relax and unwind.

Who's at risk for heat related illness?

People aged 65 and older are more prone to heat-related illness. Here's why:
1. Older adults do not adjust as well as young people to sudden changes in temperature.
2. They are more likely to have a chronic medical condition that changes normal body responses to heat.
3. They are more likely to take prescription medicines that affect the body's ability to control its temperature or sweat.

Seek medical care immediately if you have, or someone you know has, symptoms of heat-related illness like muscle cramps, headaches, nausea or vomiting
