In 2024, we were searching for a bilingual RN and connected with the Latino Health Initiative and their Welcome Back Center, which helps internationally trained healthcare professionals obtain the certifications needed to join the U.S. healthcare workforce. Through that connection, we hired Dany (second from right in photo), who had recently completed the program and was seeking a new opportunity.

For nearly two years, Dany has been an invaluable member of our care team. Last night, she was recognized at the Welcome Back Center’s Recognition Event, which celebrates participants and their achievements through the program. MKHC was also honored with a Partnership Award in recognition of our collaboration with the Center.

We are incredibly grateful to have Dany on our team and proud of our successful partnership with the Welcome Back Center. Congratulations to Dany and all of this year’s honorees!

MKHC hosted its first nutrition education class for participants in our Food as Medicine program, which combines weekly produce access, medical monitoring, and nutrition education aimed at helping participants manage conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure.

Our five-part class series, led by a bilingual certified diabetes educator, aims to build healthy habits, improve health literacy, and share practical, culturally relevant tips and meal ideas to incorporate more fruits and vegetables.

Each class participant took home a bag of fresh produce provided by Community FarmShare, our partner for the FAM program, to supplement the fruits and vegetables they receive at CFS's weekly mobile markets.

MKHC relocated to our current space in April 2024. To cover associated costs, including moving, occupancy, and equipment expenses, we launched the MKHC Relocation Campaign with the goal of raising $150,000. Thanks to our amazing supporters, we officially reached our goal this year!

Now that this phase of the campaign has ended, a new one has begun — one we call MOVE (Manifesting Our Vision of Equity).

MOVE includes expanded sponsorship opportunities for individuals and corporations who are interested in making one-time and/or recurring financial
contributions to support our vision driven work to ensure all medically underserved residents of the community have access to quality care in a comprehensive health
care center.

It was great stopping by one of Community FarmShare's mobile markets yesterday to see it in action and meet coordinators Valentina and Claudia! MKHC patients are currently being enrolled to shop at these weekly markets as part of our newly-launched Food as Medicine program. Check out the awesome looking produce that is available!
