As women age, the risk of miscarriage rises. This is due to cellular division errors in eggs, which begin forming in the womb. Spindles that separate chromosomes can degrade over time, leading to DNA errors. Fertilizing an egg with these errors can result in miscarriages or embryos with reduced potential.
