Thank you to Association of University Centers on Disabilities for collaborating with us on this informative resource. It breaks down what was said in the White House press conference and what is included in the Executive Order, alongside what the evidence shows, including what proposed changes to MMR, separating vaccines across visits, and “parental choice” could mean for families in practice.

The Autism Society of America is concerned by statements surrounding the August 10 Executive Order suggesting that vaccines may be responsible for the increase in Autism diagnoses. Autistic people and their families deserve clear, accurate, evidence-based information when making important healthcare decisions.

We urge federal leaders to follow the evidence, invest in rigorous research to answer the questions we still do not understand about Autism, and prioritize the healthcare, services, and supports Autistic people and their families need today.

Last week, law enforcement professionals from across Palm Beach County, Florida, came together for specialized Autism training led by the Autism Society of America. Through education, understanding, and practical strategies, officers strengthened their ability to recognize characteristics of Autism, communicate effectively, de-escalate situations, and respond with compassion and confidence.

For too many individuals and families in the Autism community, interactions with first responders can be filled with uncertainty. Training like this helps replace fear with understanding, build trust, and create safer outcomes for everyone involved.

We are proud to partner with law enforcement agencies that are committed to learning, growing, and ensuring every individual is treated with dignity, respect, and the support they deserve.

The Autism Society of America thanks U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, Senator Susan Collins, Senator Lisa Murkowski, and the Senate HELP Committee for advancing legislation to prevent multiple proposed transfers within the U.S. Department of Education, including the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS).

We are also pleased that the RISE Act passed the Committee unanimously. The bill would help ensure a smoother transition to postsecondary education by allowing students to use their IEP or Section 504 Plan as documentation to access disability accommodations.

We will continue advocating for the final passage of these bills and for additional protections to ensure students with disabilities continue to receive the supports, services, and civil rights protections they deserve.

Whether they are helping connect someone to our local affiliates, navigate complex situations, or just listening, they show empathy, dedication, and reflect our mission and vision.

Thank you to the interns with us today, those who were with us yesterday, and those joining us tomorrow.

Last week, we recognized the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the progress it has made in advancing the rights of people with disabilities, including the Autism community. While much has changed, barriers to equal opportunity, access, and inclusion remain.

As Disability Pride Month wraps up, taking action remains an everyday priority.
The Autism Society of America's Action Center helps you contact lawmakers, track vital legislation, and prepare for Election Day, making civic engagement simple for the Autism community.
