That's all folks!
As the weather gets colder, it's time to wrap up another season of cemetery preservation and look back at what we've accomplished this year!
2026 Season Totals:
🪦 336 headstones cleaned
🛠️ 156 headstones repaired
🇺🇸 13 veterans' graves marked or provided with replacement markers
Every stone preserved represents a little more history saved for future generations. Whether it's cleaning a monument, repairing damaged stonework, or making sure a veteran's service is properly recognized, every project helps tell the stories of those who came before us.
I also want to take a moment to thank my helpers, Scott Simmons and Chris Austin, for their time, hard work, and dedication throughout the season. Having people willing to lend a hand makes a tremendous difference, and I'm grateful to have them alongside me in this work.
Just because the season is ending doesn't mean the work stops!
Over the winter, I'll be continuing several important projects behind the scenes, including working to identify and mark unmarked veterans' graves at Mount Hope Cemetery, pursuing replacement government headstones for veterans whose existing markers have become unreadable, and continuing the transcription of additional town vital records to help preserve our local history and make these records more accessible for future research.
There is still plenty of history waiting to be uncovered, names waiting to be remembered, and stories waiting to be told. The winter months will give me time to focus on research, paperwork, and planning for the next season.
Thank you to everyone who has followed along, watched and shared my videos, offered encouragement, and supported these preservation efforts throughout the year. Every bit of support helps keep local history alive.
I'm looking forward to what the winter projects bring and to getting back out into the cemeteries next spring!
