An A1C test is a simple blood test that gives you and your provider important information about your blood sugar over the past few months.

The results can help identify prediabetes, monitor diabetes and guide decisions about your care.

If you are due for an A1C test, talk with your provider about scheduling one. The test is covered through OHP. If you are eligible, completing it may also qualify for a $15 Sherm's Thunderbird Market gift card through the Prevention First Incentive Program.

As we reach the halfway point of the third quarter, we are reminded that health in Douglas County is about more than doctor's offices and hospitals.

It looks like a neighbor driving someone to chemotherapy. A food bank helping keep a family's pantry stocked. A school nurse who is there when a child needs support.

We are proud to be part of a community that understands health happens in many places. We are committed to working with our partners to support the people and neighborhoods that make Douglas County strong.

What does health look like in your part of Douglas County? Tell us in the comments. 👇

If you have concerns about your child's health or development, your primary care provider is a good place to start.

Whether you have questions about your child's hearing, speech, behavior, development or another health concern, your provider can evaluate your child, answer your questions and help determine whether additional care or a referral is needed.

Starting the conversation early can help you understand your options and connect with the right services.

If you have been meaning to bring up a concern, the start of a new school year is a great time to schedule a visit.

📒 Getting ready for school is a good time to schedule your child's preventive checkup. 🎒

A well-child visit is about more than height and weight. Your child's healthcare provider can check their growth and development, answer questions, discuss nutrition and healthy habits, review recommended screenings and talk with you about any concerns you may have.

These visits are covered through OHP and are an important part of helping children stay healthy throughout the school year.

If your child is due for a preventive visit, contact your healthcare provider to schedule an appointment. If you need help finding a primary care provider, Customer Care is here to help.

We’re so grateful for partners like Umpqua Health Alliance who make our work possible.

Today we’re highlighting UHA and the way they show up for families through the Family Development Center.

In this video, you’ll hear a little about who they are and why they choose to support the work we do here at the FDC.

Their support helps us provide safe, nurturing care and resources for our children and families.

Thank you, Umpqua Health, for showing up for families in our community!

Mark your calendars! The Back-to-School Bash is coming up Saturday, August 22, from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. at Umpqua Community College!

It’s a day designed to help students and families head into the new school year feeling supported, connected and excited for what’s ahead, with resources, activities and plenty of fun available at no cost.

This week on Your CUE, we’re getting to know some of the people helping make it happen: Jessica Hand, Executive Director of Thrive Umpqua; Sarah Holborow, Director of Community Engagement at Aviva Health; Debi Hollander, System of Care Manager at Umpqua Health; Emily Veale, Principal of Wi******er Elementary School; and Roseburg High School students Eliza Bliss and Ryver Smalley.

We talk about what families can expect at this year’s Bash, but the conversation goes much deeper. We explore what happens when a community comes together to remove barriers, make resources easier to access and make sure students know there's a whole community in their corner.

Catch Your CUE | The Back-to-School Bash: Building a Culture of Support and join us as we celebrate what’s possible when Douglas County shows up for one another: https://youtu.be/7Pzk3x60I94?si=0i1n3hqaU0b-l_ZD
