I remember the social worker casually asking me if I needed anything. I blurted out “GAS!” Yes, I had a job and I was supposed to be “ok” financially but the NICU took a toll. From eating out almost everyday, to taking unpaid time off and a mountain of hospital bills, the costs were adding up quickly! All parents of new babies face new financial commitments but the NICU is on another level. Once our son was home we decided to create this organization to play a small role in alleviating costs for parents by providing food, gas cards, parking passes and more.

What are your thoughts on the financial impact of the NICU and PICU?

We are a small nonprofit seeking to reach many through our initiatives. Every donation, grant and/or sponsorship gives another family access to important resources during their NICU journey.

Today Carter is in speech, occupational and feeding therapy because of the challenges that he has due to autism and premature birth. We’re working on better communication, gross motor skills and getting him to eat by mouth. For seven years we’ve watched him grow and thrive in various therapies.

NICU dads carry so much, often silently.

Did you know:
▪️ NICU dads experience depression at nearly 2x the rate of the general father population
▪️ 1 in 5 NICU fathers report significant symptoms of depression
▪️ Up to 1 in 3 report PTSD or trauma-related symptoms following their NICU journey
▪️ NICU fathers remain widely under-screened and under-supported in perinatal mental health care

For Black NICU fathers, these challenges can be compounded by communication barriers, structural inequities, and limited access to culturally responsive care.
