We are 37% sold out for our upcoming fundraising event! Thanks to every donor who has contributed. We have also received a donations from Linganore Winecellars Cooper's Hawk !

For 226 days we fought for our baby with God’s help and he fought for himself. Everyday was a roller coaster and we realized that it could happen to anyone. In 2020 we turned our pain into purpose with the founding of Carter G. Cares. Giving back to the NICU and hundreds of families that we’ve served has made the experience so meaningful. Because Carter is nonverbal he uses an AAC device to speak. Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices are tools that are designed to help individuals with speech, language, or motor impairments communicate. Because we anticipated his needs for years, it has been challenging to get him to use the device independently. Lately he has been much more verbal but he still requires some prompting. This is progress from us having to physically put his fingers on the correct words before. We’re seeing progress from where we started and that’s all that matters. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

In 2020 when we started Carter G. Cares our son had been out of the NICU for less than a year. We were also in the beginning of a very scary global pandemic. Our family made the decision to start the mission to give back to families of NICU babies.

On this day we delivered Christmas gifts for 40 children to the Ronald McDonald House in Gainesville, FL, just a few miles from the NICU where he had been for several months. Today we are in Maryland and continuing our work. We have served over 1,300 families and we look forward to doing much more.

When Carter was in the NICU never would we have imagined that we would be able to turn our pain into purpose. It’s still hard to believe that the little guy who was fighting for his life is now 7 🙌🏾❤️

Through the establishment of Carter G. Cares we’ve provided resources for NICU families since 2020! Gas cards, parking passes, food, books for babies, breast pumps and more!

We started reading to Carter when he was still on an incubator and it was one of the things that provided a sense of normalcy. Little did we know we were developing his love for books from day one. Even now you’ll see him carrying around his favorite book whenever he goes.

During NICU Awareness Month (September) we will be partnering with Ashley O’Neil, NP-NICU Advocate, Author, & Podcaster and Fly Yaya, Inc for our annual book drive. All books will be donated to local Maryland/DC NICU’s. Last year we collected 200 books and this year we hope to do even more.
