For recent World Humanitarian Day 8.19.26: recognizing the tireless dedication of Razom for Ukraine, IngeniusUA doctors, numerous other NGOโ€™s and industry partners supporting these efforts, surgical teams returning to Ukraine - and independent journalists keeping us all informed.

In the fall of 2024, while our Face 2 Face facial reconstructive team was working in Lviv, we were shadowed by a reporting team from The New York Times. Their story published a year ago Aug 2025, brought needed attention to the long and difficult journey faced by many soldiers living with devastating orbital and facial injuries and the invisible wounds of war. These soldiers and their families are still followed.

With the scale of humanitarian work so greatly needed and being performed the world over, we were truly honored and humbled to be featured by The NY Times ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ The article within notes the work of the teams though focuses on honoring the soldiers, their sacrifice, and reminding the world of the profound human impact of this conflict. Reconstructive surgery is often a journey measured in years, not a single operation, and healing extends far beyond the operating room. We are grateful to play a role in restoring function, dignity, and humanity - one patient at a time - while emphasizing surgical education where the experience and knowledge gained can extend far beyond. With each trip back, if our work can remind us of our shared responsibility as global citizens and inspire others to meaningful action, then we will have achieved key goals. The need for *collective humanitarian action* is greater now than ever ๐ŸŒ

Our work with Razom and the Co-Pilot Project has expanded reach and continued in Lviv earlier this year. Sharing here a few notable moments from that week: of camaraderie and collaboration, a day when Lviv was struck by drones, and a glimpse of how a city (country) honors its fallen, lives its daily life, and perseveres despite the fatigue and perils of war. The eyes get a month, the brain gets a day ๐Ÿ˜† and turns out yesterday was - any day or month of the year that promotes public health and education to shrink global health disparities is worth recognizing, and this one focuses on increasing access to neurological and neurosurgical care worldwide ๐ŸŒ Turns out a staggering 3.4 billion people globally live with a neurological condition. At a time when science is being gutted in ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ, this requires a realignment of priorities and the keen and timely attention of leaders in healthcare, research, and government policy. Here is my brain guy - Dr. Chirag Gandhi - daily doing his part ๐Ÿง

Great to be invited to the International Anaplastology Association annual meeting right here at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore by Juan Garcia and Andrew Etheridge. Insightful talks including Eduardo Arias recapping the challenges and milestones of our March 2026 surgical mission trip to Ukraine, through the Razom for Ukraine Co-pilot project highlighting the collaboration between surgical reconstructive teams and their work in ocular prosthetics, modifying timing to accelerate rehabilitation goals for our patients, wounded soldiers of the Ukrainian armed forces. Inspired to hear from the talented Lindsey Fitzharris author of The Facemaker on her WW1 era background research into the life and career of Sir Harold Gilles, and the remarkable parallels drawn to modern conflicts, patient care and facial rehabilitation. Great to connect with Drew from Poriferous LLC and Lourens from who have supported our global surgical programs, among many others. As always big thank you to the sponsors for supporting conferences that give us an opportunity to share experiences and generate new ideas for future projects. Our ultimate focus always remains innovation to maximize patient care ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Authorโ€™s copies ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ โ€” as fellowship trained Oculofacial Plastic Surgeons we are Eyelid Ptosis experts! Great to see this chapter accepted and published with Otolaryngology Clinics. Congrats to Dr. Caroline Chung on co-authoring during her ASOPRS fellowship with us here in Baltimore this authoritative look at eyelid ptosis management - a paper now referenced by the ENT community internationally based on positive feedback we have received the past 6 months! We are honored to make this contribution, and see itโ€™s helpful impact in educating fellow surgeons on the particulars of eyelid ptosis evaluation and surgery, a common but nuanced eyelid lifting operation focused primarily on achieving balanced results and upper eyelid symmetry ๐Ÿ“Questions about eyelid ptosis? America the Beautiful at 250 years โ€” an experiment in society, governance, and culture. Her history encompasses the joys, sorrows, inclusivity, prejudice, protection, violence, prosperity, and poverty that together reflect the human condition itself. At her best, she has been marked by generosity of spirit, resilience, and kindness toward all people โ€” the truest forms of patriotism. Yet many of her greatest challenges of this chapter are rooted in fear, division, and avarice. While this moment alone may not define her people or her history, how we collectively write the next chapter will determine her legacy. America, today we celebrate the extraordinary growth and achievements that made 250 years possible. Proudly, may we also meet this moment together with the brotherhood, clear minds, and open hearts these times call for. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ (๐ŸŽถ Tabernacle choir)

Global Surgery Day 05.25.26 - initiated in 2015 to raise awareness of the lack of access to surgical healthcare worldwide. Honored and privileged to have worked with a number of NGOโ€™s, non-profits, and overseas teaching programs since 2015 to spread and increase knowledge, education, and patient care in Oculofacial plastic & reconstructive surgery. This is exactly the type of collaboration our Face 2 Face team generates when working in Ukraine through .for.ukraine Co-Pilot Project, bringing together ENT, facial plastic surgery, ophthalmology, oculofacial surgery, oral surgery, anesthesia, skilled OR nursing โ€” and now also ocularistry, facial anaplastology, and pain management โ€” into a multidisciplinary team to comprehensively care for war wounded soldiers and civilians. Working together over numerous trips has given us (all) an opportunity to learn from each other, grow the skills transfer program, and optimize patient outcomes from the start. Are there complications to handle? Do we often have to make incremental steps over time? Of course to both, this is surgery adjacent to major conflict - and where surgical teams and patients benefit most is when we manage the setbacks and challenges together. Many thanks to , numerous industry partners, and the Ukrainian residents and medical students for their tireless commitment. Partnership is continued Growth ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Happy Easter to all who celebrate! And following our recent week of collaboration, education, and patient care (F2F/CoPilot), thank you to our dear friends in Ukraine for this lovely book - an insightful guide on the history and culture of a remarkable country ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ I look forward to having this as a future travel companion when we can return and explore more freely. For example, there are ancient Greek ruins on the Black Sea coast, who knew? And churches, monuments, and colorful Carpathian mountains, of course. Wishing Peace, Light, and a brighter future for All ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Proud to attend and support .for.ukraine at their recent Annual Meeting in NYC. Incredible work being done year upon year to promote various advocacy efforts, support Ukrainian heritage, film and communities, and the many facets of Razom Health. Looking forward to our continued international collaborations through facial reconstructive surgical missions and the successful Co-Pilot Project.
