Exhaustion, resentment, overwhelm, and showing up at work on 3 hours of sleep are not required badges of motherhood.

You are allowed to be rested. You are allowed to be refreshed. You are allowed to prioritize your relationship. Your self-care. Your work.

You are allowed to go throughout your day without being stretched so thin, you feel as if you'll snap.

Most of these issues need to be solved from many angles (exercise, therapy, counseling, medication, etc.) but SLEEP is a crucial piece in all of them.

Will you always get a fabulous night sleep every night as a parent?
Nope. But should you be able to count on it the majority of the time?
Yes!!

If your baby is over the age of 16 weeks and you're struggling with with frequent wake ups that are not required feedings and crap naps during the day, you CAN resolve this.

Betcha didn’t know that “sleep training” does not mean “cry it out”! There are many different methods that allow you to be there to support your child during the sleep learning process. And they almost always surprise us with how quickly it works!!

I promise you- you won’t regret it.

Plus, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with cleaning while your children are awake!!! You don’t need to be engaged in play with them, constantly cruise directing their every waking moment.

Studies suggest that children *want* to interact with parents during every day tasks, and it’s excellent for their development. So get them involved!

And if you have a baby, put, them in a safe space (swing, pack and play, etc), give them a toy, turn on some music and sing to them while you fold the laundry or wash the dishes.

Sure, things will take longer to get done BUT you’ll likely be less resentful and more rested if you take their nap time to rejuvenate yourself.

Mothering is a 24/7 job and you deserve a break.

If your baby isn’t napping or you’re struggling with sleep, dm NAP to chat about how I can help! Visit www.yourzenbabysleep.com for all the info.

Sleep training by no means to leave your baby all by themselves!

While you are teaching them the skill of independent sleep, you CAN be involved in the process and CAN soothe them!

Here is a hierarchy of soothing methods, from least to most involved, that you can follow as you are practicing independent sleep.

When you are at a step that soothes the baby, stop there and then resume the method you are using.

1️⃣ Presence in the room
2️⃣ Soothe with “shhh” sound
3️⃣ Sing a quiet song
4️⃣ Rub belly/back/cheeks
5️⃣ Jiggle them softly while still in the crib
6️⃣ Offer a paci
7️⃣ Pick up/put down when calm

I feel so relieved because at least I know that sleep is a constant”

Real quote from a real client.

Sleep training is hard work and a sleeping baby definitely doesn’t make all aspects of motherhood “easy”

However, if you knew you could depend on 7-8 hours of a stretch of sleep for you, plus time to just relax, workout, shower, or get things done WITHOUT the baby after a long work day, wouldn’t YOU feel more relieved, too?

Of course you want to spend as much time as you can with your baby if you’re a working mom, but it’s okay to also want to spend time on yourself or with your partner, too. That’s an important piece of self-care.

If your baby needs you in order to fall asleep and needs you to be there multiple times at night, when are you taking care of YOU? You take care of the baby, the house, the people at your job, your spouse, etc. What about YOU?

Let’s talk about getting sleep in order so that you can feel that real sense of relief when you’re busy doing all of the things. Drop a ❤️ below to learn more.

Most sleep struggles turn into patterns that feel “normal” simply because they’ve lasted so long.🤷🏻‍♀️

👉 That 5-month-old who only naps on you?
Could still be doing it in 12 months.
👉 That toddler who needs a bottle and 45 minutes of rocking? Might still be waking multiple times a night at age 3.
👉 That co-sleeping setup that kind of works now?

It could be the reason your toddler is waking multiple times a night and struggling to fall back asleep without you.

I support parents who are ready to stop waiting… and start sleeping. Comment ‘ZEN’ to learn all the ways I can support you towards full nights of sleep for you and your little one.😴
