Earlier this week, AAPM&R released urgent actions regarding IRF coverage criteria, prior authorization for spasticity and Medicare enrollment provisions:

-Urgent concerns regarding the initial Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) conference and other new requirements in the 2027 Inpatient PPS Final Rule

-Significant concerns regarding expansion of prior authorization processes related to botulinum toxins and more in the Medicare Outpatient Prospective Payment System

-Concerns regarding Medicare enrollment and more in the Home Health Prospective Payment System Proposed Rule

Congratulations to Academy members Nneka Ifejika, MD, MPH, FAAPMR and Robynne Braun, MD, PhD, FAAPMR for their contributions to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Stroke Rehabilitation and Recovery Guideline.

Following review by our Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee, AAPM&R formally endorsed the guideline based on the Committee’s recommendation, recognizing its value in supporting evidence-based stroke rehabilitation and recovery care.
