Meet our Co-Founder Katie Thomas:

​Born and raised in Oakland, Katie moved to the Sacramento/Roseville area in the early 1990’s. Katie knew early on that she wanted to enter a helping profession, and co-founded Hearts and Hands in 2010.

Katie has enjoyed providing supervision and mentoring upcoming therapists over the past 16 years. A fun fact about Katie is that she loves to travel, and has been to 17 countries with more to come. She loves both European cities and anywhere that has a beach!

Therapist Spotlight 🌟

Meet James:

James enjoys working with a diverse range of clients and supporting individuals in creating meaningful, lasting change. He obtained his Master’s in Counseling Psychology from William Jessup University. Outside of work, he enjoys walking his dog, spending time with his cat, reading, and being with friends and family.

In addition, James is co-facilitating a men’s group next month. This is a much needed resource for the community- please sign up as soon as possible if you are interested!

Two of our wonderful staff, Taylor (Admin Assistant) and Katrina (Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee), spent Saturday at Placer Pride in Roseville.

Meet Roque (pronounced Hawk)!

Roque is LGBTQIA-affirming and especially passionate about working with couples. He enjoys helping partners strengthen communication, deepen understanding, and grow together through life’s challenges. Before pursuing counseling, he worked in higher education as a professor and administrator. He is completing his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Palo Alto University.
