Massive beautiful trees!! I love redwood trees. There is something about standing there feeling so small next to something that’s weathered hundreds of years and countless storms that just makes me feel like everything is going to be ok. The absolute picture of what resilience looks like.

I’m getting ready to teach a colored pencil blending class and I have been trying out different colored pencils. By far the top three are Prismacolor Caran d'Ache and this one surprised me, Master’s Touch. I was disappointed with Faber-Castell as I have enjoyed their other drawing products. So there you have it in my humble opinion. If you are serious about learning colored pencil blending it’s worth it to get good quality pencils or you will soon be discouraged with it. And remember to grab heavy weight textured paper. I’m using Strathmore Pastel paper here.

These are the CUTEST Picasso dogs! Created by the kindergarten class today. They learned watercolor resist and it was hilarious watching their reaction to the process. One boy just kept shouting WOW every time the watercolor slipped off the oil pastels leaving splashes of color all around the pastels. Yeah…it is kinda fun to watch. 😂

A newborn hat in silver and blue and my favorite thing to knit shown in dark blue merino hand dyed yarn…premie baby hat. (Which also fits 18” dolls btw) Donate and then comment below “I donated” and I will send you your gift. Link is in my bio.

I had so much fun showing my kindergarten class how I make my abstract watercolors. We used ph Martins liquid watercolors and dropped these bright vivid colors onto wet paper. With a little help from the class the colors were blended. Then they splattered iridescent watercolors (it was like cleaning up after a parrot who had just been fed). They took water soluble crayons and practiced mark making and doodling. This week they will cut them into circles and glue them on black paper to make their own colorful planets. The papers turned out so beautiful it will be hard to cut them up!

My commute to work this morning was a winter wonderland of giant snowflakes! I couldn’t resist the photos while driving! Don’t worry I was on a back road and there was no traffic.

Charcoal drawing for a friend to give as a Christmas present. Posting now as I know for sure the gift has been received. I still do pet portraits when asked. This one was fun. I applied charcoal directly to a blending stump to put in the lowlights on the dog’s fur.
