Return to play testing tools can take many shapes and forms but underlying all of it are establishing the building blocks that lay a stable foundation for progressively increasing toleration for your sport. At some levels of youth fitness the primary goal is sometimes highly focused on the outcomes of a season, or a game, or a single sport. However, the data has been clear that when the focus is on long-term athletic development there are benefits across the lifespan-not just adolescence. Recently published an article furthering their prior work in this arena and aiming to redefine LTAD to LTActD for 'long term activity development' as an over-arching view to build athleticism into the lifespan (reference in comments). Their work in this area gives continued support for what are do on a daily basis whether you're a youth athlete, or a mid-life adult who is changing habits. Developing a rehab/fitness/training plan with multilayered goals but always keeping the 'north start' for longevity of physical activity. The short term goals might be to integrate your return to your love for mountain biking 🚵 but along the way we care about helping you lay down the pieces to sustain physical activity as a balancing into the rest of your life. The word 'pondera' itself means balance, equilibrium, considering; pondering--we definitely keep the long view in mind to help you focus on the tasks at hand with your fitness goals that are important to you!

In some ways this does not make for a cute or understandable reel at all 😭. But it definitely warms my heart because this is the stuff I love immersing myself into to help my rehabilitation patients, fitness & coaching clients. Always excited to be able to attend the WSER 100 Med Ed day so close-by in Auburn! Grateful to have once again met other wonderful clinicians & researchers & learning about their work & their passions. Thank you to these presenters for persevering over time & asking these questions to help not only athletes, but also the general populations at large 💚 (The paper handwritten drawing is from 1981 when they held the first med ed conference which was when the first official medical research study was done to investigate the “runner’s high” involving bloodwork around mile 55-56.)
