NECO is proud to celebrate National Health Center Week, August 2–8!
For more than 50 years, community health centers have been central to NECO’s mission of expanding access to high-quality eye care while educating future optometrists. Our first community health center affiliations began in 1972 with The Dimock Center, Dorchester House Multi-Service Center, and South End Community Health Center—partnerships that helped establish a groundbreaking model for community-based optometric education.
Today, NECO students continue to gain invaluable clinical experience caring for patients from diverse backgrounds with complex health and vision needs. At the same time, our community partnerships help bring essential eye care to people where they live.
In recognition of this year’s theme, “Building Innovative Care Where It Matters Most,” we thank our community health center partners, clinical faculty, students, and alumni for their enduring commitment to accessible, compassionate care.
