Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Dr. Didi Saint Louis is a women’s reproductive health expert, board certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist and CEO of Healthy Mommy, Happy Baby, Inc. Dr. Didi has spent the last nine years of her career in private practice caring for wome

n in various life stages. From new moms to teenagers and menopausal women, Dr. Didi works with her patients to have equal ownership in their health care. During her time in private practice, Dr. Didi often finds her patients are not properly armed to fully participate in their care, and much of her time is spent educating patients. Now, Dr. Didi is focused on providing the education needed to empower women of color to own their health and health care, and on training a new generation of women’s health providers as assistant professor at Morehouse School of Medicine. Her experience as a private practitioner and public health advocate has shown her how critical the early stages of motherhood are for setting a firm foundation for mom and child, as well as for the entire family. Dr. Didi is a passionate breastfeeding activist and has extended her advocacy to Capitol Hill for the rights of pregnant women workers. As a public speaker, she presents medical information in a way that is conversational and interactive on the topics she’s most passionate about to inspire women to be the head mommy-in-charge of their lives. Dr. Didi has been featured on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, the Jennifer Keitt Show and in Essence magazine, ThinkProgress.com, TheGrio.com, and BlackandMarriedwithKids.com.

This just happened in GA! I know some will disagree with me and you are entitled to your opinion, just not on this post. I am tired of seeing patient whose care is being delayed because of politicians. Whether temporary or not this is a victory for women’s health and for women in GA.

The mental health of women is SO important--especially right now.

I love these 5 ways that Orlando Health is identifying as ways we can improve our mental health. Here they are:

1. Go outside and get fresh air or 15 minutes. The vitamin D is great for you.
2. Spend more time in nature. Take a trail walk. Go to a cabin. Something.
3. Take a short trip exploring your local area. Changing your scenery is great. I love TikTok for ideas on new places to check out.
4. Unplug. Yes, you're reading this online but make a plan for times where you aren't online and accessible.
5. Practice forgiveness--of others and most importantly yourself.

There is a direct connection between your mind and body. You exercise so make sure you're applying that energy to your mental health too.

Teacher. Caregiver. Chef. The pandemic created distinct challenges and stressors for women as many are faced with fulfilling multiple roles while still meeting the expectations of their jobs and careers. The situation is particularly significant when you consider that prior to the COVID-19 pandemic,...

Policies to Roll Back Abortion Rights Will Hit Incarcerated People Particularly Hard

Literally no surprise here.

People in jails and prisons are particularly vulnerable to the fallout from the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade.

The abortion trigger bans will go into effect in 3 more states this week so here's what you need to know:

Tennessee: By the 25th, pretty much all abortions will be outlawed except in the cases that relate to preventing death or serious injury in pregnant women--in**st nor r**e are not exceptions.

Idaho: Theirs took effect on 8/19 and they imposed a near-total abortion ban with the exception of r**e, in**st or medical emergency. Important to note: Physicians that perform abortions outside of these circumstances can be sentenced to 5 years of prison. There is a hearing to block this.

Texas: Abortion has been outlawed here since pre-Roe v. Wade being overturned. They make no exceptions. The state has a trigger law that begins on August 25 that will give physicians performing illegal abortions life in prison with fines beginning at $100K.

It feels like we're living in an alternate reality.

Words can't express the continued shock that the community of women and those who have female reproductive organs are feeling right now.

For many doctors, our hands are tied but I want you to make sure that you remember these points here:

1. Find out if you live in a trigger-ban state: Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming. Abortion has been effectively immediately banned in these states. So women in these states need to find out about the type of ban immediately.
2. Women in other states need to find out about the laws that will take effect in the next 4 weeks
3. Stay on top of information. Best sites:
Guttmacher.org
Plannedparenthood.org
4. Call your provider to discuss contraception: what would be the best options for you based on your health history and lifestyle.
5. If you have no insurance, go to your clinic and they will help.
6. Find out about emergency birth control and if you can still access it--get it. Remember that the abortion pill is FDA approved and still available.
7. Go vote and support organizations that help women access reproductive health services including abortion. Make sure that type of support isn’t banned in your state.

Be safe. Be strong.
