"The parts of ourselves we hate most often began as the parts someone else couldn't love".

๐ŸŒŸ More specifically, the parts of ourselves we learned to disconnect from, invalidate, hide, and silence were the ones that we learned could cost us relationship, safety, acceptance, and belonging.

๐ŸŒŸ As adults, we can begin to question whether belonging still requires leaving ourselves behind, and hopefully make room to reconnect to what we once had to hide.

"A daring and courageous attitude does not come from pushing yourself. Itโ€™s more that youโ€™re courageous enough to feel, youโ€™re bold enough to be vulnerable, daring enough to be open." โ€” A. H. Almaas

Iโ€™m excited to share that Iโ€™m now offering clinical supervision for LPC Associates in Texas.

Iโ€™ve come to believe that some of our most meaningful growth as therapists happens not only through what we learn, but through deepening our capacity to stay present with complexity, trust ourselves, and remain fully human in the therapy room.

I approach supervision as a collaborative space to think deeply about clients, explore what is stirred in us as clinicians, and cultivate the kind of presence from which meaningful therapeutic work can unfold. Alongside strengthening clinical skills and case conceptualization, weโ€™ll work toward a confidence rooted not in having all the answers, but in trusting your capacity to meet what arises with curiosity, discernment, and care.

My approach is relational, experiential, attachment-oriented, and trauma-informed, and is especially suited to clinicians drawn to depth-oriented work. I also offer guidance in navigating the practical realities of building and sustaining a private practice.

If youโ€™re looking for supervision that supports both your
development as a clinician and your growth as a person, Iโ€™d love to connect.

What if your life was perfectly written for your awakening? What if the things you saw as difficulties, mistakes, and shortcomings were actually the perfect opportunity and next step toward your own awakening and freedom? ๐ŸŒ…

Truth ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Most people think freedom means being able to do whatever they feel. But think about it. If every circumstance can instantly change our inner state, that isnโ€™t freedom. Thatโ€™s dependence.

A reaction is when something comes in and something comes out almost automatically. Our peace, our clarity, our energy, gone just like that.

A response is different. A response means we have enough awareness to pause, to reflect, and to ask: what would be most helpful here? What would be most true?

Thatโ€™s what weโ€™re always trying to understand. How can I choose my own state of consciousness? How can I stop letting my life be controlled from the outside?

โ€œStand still. The forest knows / Where you are.โ€

โ€” David Wagoner

Lost
by David Wagoner

Stand still. The trees ahead and the bushes beside you
Are not lost. Wherever you are is called Here,
And you must treat it as a powerful stranger,
Must ask permission to know it and be known.
The forest breathes. Listen. It answers,
I have made this place around you.
If you leave it, you may come back again, saying Here.
No two trees are the same to Raven.
No two branches are the same to Wren.
If what a tree or bush does is lost on you,
You are surely lost. Stand still. The forest knows
Where you are. You must let it find you.

This poem appeared in Traveling Light: Collected and New Poems by David Wagoner, published by the University of Illinois Press, 1999. Shared here with profound gratitude.

"When you have compassion for yourself, you begin to trust yourself. And you begin to see that it is the truth that saves you." โ€” A. H. Almaas

Self-compassion isnโ€™t only about soothing yourself. It is also about standing firmly on your own behalf.

There are moments when care looks like softness, and moments when it looks like strength. When you honor your limits, speak your truth, or choose what truly supports your well-being, you are practicing a deeper kind of compassion. One that protects, empowers, and restores justice.

โœจ Where in your life might self-compassion be asking you to be a little more fierce right now?
