For the past five years, Madison has been an incredible part of our team. As our Physician Liaison, Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) Technician, and part of our diagnostic testing team, she wears many hats and wears them all so well.

If you've ever met Madison, you know she never meets a stranger. She has a way of making everyone feel welcome, brings sunshine into the office every single day, and always has a smile on her face. June is Cataract Awareness Month!
Did you know that cataracts are the leading cause of preventable blindness worldwide? A cataract occurs when the eye's natural lens becomes cloudy, causing vision to become blurry, dim, or glare-sensitive. Cataracts often develop slowly, making it easy to overlook early symptoms.

Common signs of cataracts include:
Blurry or cloudy vision
Difficulty seeing at night
Glare or halos around lights
Fading or yellowing of colors
Frequent changes in glasses prescription

While cataracts are most commonly associated with aging, other risk factors include diabetes, smoking, prolonged UV exposure, steroid use, and eye injuries. The good news is that cataract surgery is a safe and highly successful procedure that can restore clear vision for many patients.
