New Life Counseling Center

New Life Counseling Center NLCC is a Christian counseling practice that offers individual, marital, and family therapy. NLCC’s philosophy of human nature is basically optimistic.

We see the human spirit as created by God, and is adaptable, enduring, and capable of creative growth. This is the foundation of why we do what we do. If a client requests to incorporate Christian spirituality into counseling, our therapists are well trained to do so. However, we are incredibly respectful of our clients’ faith beliefs, including those who profess faith and those who do not. Whomever we are serving, we will offer academically trained and clinically robust counseling.

Pastors, we see the heavy load you carry.

You’re often the first person someone turns to when life feels overwhelming, offering Scripture, prayer, and faithful presence.

We also know that there may be times when extra support is needed. There may be times when someone could benefit from help from a qualified Christian counselor or licensed therapist.

Signs that professional help may be needed include:

Thoughts of harm to self or others.
Severe, persistent depression or anxiety that isn’t lifting.
Trauma, abuse, or grief that keeps someone stuck.
Patterns that significantly impair daily life or relationships.
No meaningful progress after several weeks of pastoral care.

Just as you’d encourage someone to see a doctor for a physical illness, connecting them with trained mental health support can be a powerful way to care for the whole person—body, mind, and spirit.

We’re here as partners, not replacements. As a Christian counseling center, we would love to collaborate with you, so your congregation member receives excellent care while you continue providing spiritual shepherding.

If you’re sensing a need to refer, please reach out. You don’t have to do this alone. Your people are blessed to have a pastor who cares enough to get them the right help at the right time.

“It contributes to others being thoughtful as well.” Dr. Michael Kerr, “Bowen Theory’s Secrets.”

If you’ve ever been told to "just pray it away," or felt like your emotions were a sign of weak faith then you’re not alone.

Here’s the truth: faith and feelings can coexist.

Being sad doesn’t mean you’re ungrateful. Feeling anxious doesn’t mean you’re not trusting God.
Even the Psalms are filled with grief, fear, and questions. Jesus met people in their pain with compassion, not shame.

At New Life Counseling, we’re equipped to include your faith and beliefs in your therapy if you’d like.
Therapy can be a place to bring it all.

Submit an appointment request on our website, and one of our therapists will personally reach out within 24 hours.

"In a way, our nervous systems talk to each other. So, I can say one thing with my words, but my spouse might “hear” something different based on what they are sensing from my nervous system, and it’s all happening instinctually. This is what I believe gets in the way of communication in marriage…and it’s so much more than just the words. " Stephanie Ruyter, LPC-Associate, supervised by Deana Reed, #68220, discusses communicating in relationships in her latest blog.

Are you the one people always turn to? The one who anticipates everyone else's needs?

You have a helper identity, which can be beautiful, but also exhausting.

When helping becomes tied to your sense of worth, it's hard to stop, even when you're burning out.

Your value isn't measured by your productivity or availability. You matter even when you're not helping. Rest is not a reward. It's necessary.

Therapy can help you reconnect with your own voice, your own worth, and give you permission to rest.

To schedule a free consultation with one of our dedicated therapists, please click on the link in the bio to our website and submit an inquiry form. We'll be in touch within 24 hours. 🤍
