With the amount of wildfire smoke in the air, it's becoming much more difficult for first responders to spot smoke from new local fires.
We ask everyone to please keep an eye out for any signs of smoke or fire in your area. One of the best indicators of a new fire is smoke rising vertically from a specific location. Since smoke is widespread across the region, please don't rely solely on smelling smoke—the smell of smoke is present in many areas due to existing wildfires.
If you see a column of smoke rising vertically or anything that appears to be a new fire, call 911 immediately. Early reporting can make all the difference in keeping a small fire from becoming a large one.
Thank you for helping protect our communities and our firefighters by remaining vigilant.
