A single blood pressure reading is a snapshot.

Home monitoring works best with a little technique, per the American Heart Association: rest for five minutes first, sit with feet flat and arm supported at heart level, and measure at consistent times. Then write it down, because the pattern is what your provider actually needs.

Knowing your normal is the quiet skill behind early detection.

The American Cancer Society lists changes worth paying attention to: a new lump or thickening, shifts in size or shape, skin dimpling or redness, ni**le changes. Most changes turn out to be benign, but the only way to know is to ask.

If something seems different, don't wait on it. Your provider needs to hear about it early.
