Imagine your grief as an empty cup and your healing as the tea that slowly fills it back up.

You do not wait for the pain to pass before you start pouring. You pour while the pain is still there. A flower on the table. A song while you cook. A quiet walk with no destination. Small things, poured in slowly, one at a time.

What is one small thing you could add to your cup today?

What actually makes a burial “green”? 🌿

Green burial returns to a simpler approach. The body is allowed to return naturally to the earth using biodegradable materials and fewer resources than many conventional burial practices.

For families who value simplicity, nature, or reducing their environmental impact, it’s an option worth knowing about.

A legacy isn't measured by what we leave behind... sometimes it's measured by what we choose not to leave behind.

Green burial offers families a thoughtful, environmentally conscious option that honors both a loved one's life and the natural world.

Every farewell is personal. Every legacy is unique. We're honored to help families explore all of the options available so they can choose what feels right for them.

There is no easy way to tell someone that a person they love has died.

But if you ever find yourself making that call, consider doing the following:

→ Say the words clearly and gently. Avoid phrases like "passed away peacefully" at first; the person on the other end needs to understand what has happened. Say: "I have some very hard news. [Name] has died."

→ Give them a moment of silence. Don't rush to fill it.

→ Stay on the phone. Ask if they're somewhere safe. Ask if there's someone with them.

→ You don't have to have the right words. "I'm so sorry. I love you. I'm here." is enough.

→ Offer to call back. Shock can make it hard to absorb anything in the first few minutes.

Making this call is one of the hardest things a person can do. The fact that you're the one doing it, that you're showing up for someone in their worst moment, matters more than you know.

Save this post. Share it with someone who may need it someday.

Have you ever talked with your family about what matters most to you?

For some, leaving a lighter footprint on the earth is an important part of the legacy they hope to leave behind.

If a green burial is something you've considered, having the conversation now helps ensure your wishes are understood and honored. Planning ahead is one of the greatest gifts you can give the people you love.
