Circa: 1930's - Main streets and town squares have been the heart of American communities for generations. In the 1800s and early 1900s, many towns were designed around a central gathering place where residents could shop, attend public events, conduct business, and connect with neighbors.

Town squares often included courthouses, parks, bandstands, or community buildings and became centers for celebrations, markets, parades, and civic life. Main Streets grew alongside them, lined with locally owned stores, banks, restaurants, and businesses that supported growing communities.

As railroads expanded across the United States, many small towns — including communities throughout Idaho — developed vibrant downtown districts that became symbols of local pride and economic growth.

Rupert’s historic square continues this tradition today by serving as a gathering place for community events, celebrations, and local businesses. These historic downtown areas remind us of the importance of community connection, local commerce, and preserving the character of small-town America.

Last week, we celebrated Hospital Week and the incredible people who make our hospital such a special place. From patient care to behind-the-scenes support, every member of our team plays an important role in serving our community with compassion, dedication, and heart.

It was FUN!!! We had a full week of excitement — a variety of treats, breakfast served by Administration, delicious food vendors, a coffee truck, mini donuts, ice cream, grilling burgers and serving hot lasagna for our night life, and even a putting contest for prizes!

Thank you to ALL our staff for everything you do each and every day — we are proud to celebrate you!

To the women who care for patients, support families, lead teams, and then go home to care for the people they love most — your compassion and strength inspire us every day.

Minidoka Memorial Hospital experienced a cyber incident on Easter morning that temporarily impacted certain systems within our organization. The incident has not prevented us from safely treating patients in our clinics or hospital.

Certain emergency patients were transferred due to limited imaging services, but our Emergency Department and hospital will have full access to imaging services by midnight on April 19th. We would like to extend a special “thank you” to Intermountain Health Cassia Regional Hospital for working closely with us to take care of imaging needs in the meantime!

Hotspots on loan from PMT and the Information Technology Disaster Resource Center were vital in allowing us to continue our operations. Thank you!

At all times, patients have remained our top priority. Our teams have continuously treated scheduled patients and been available for new health concerns by using established downtime procedures while systems were being restored.

We are working closely with cybersecurity experts and appropriate authorities to investigate and resolve the issue.

Patients with upcoming appointments or procedures should plan to proceed as scheduled unless otherwise contacted.
