Donald D. Newton, 75 of Rushville, passed away September 1, 2026 in Rushville. He was born February 26, 1951 in Shelbyville to the late Verlin and Annabelle (Edwards) Newton. Donald was a 1969 graduate of Rushville High School and received his associate’s degree in horticulture from Vincennes University. He worked at Pioneer and Walmart in Rushville. Donald worked at Ford Visteon in Connersville and retired from there. He enjoyed playing chess and reading. Donald was always active with his grandchildren.
Donald is survived by his sons, Adam (Kelsey) Newton and Jacob Newton; brothers, Tom (Marsha) Newton and Joe (Denise) Newton; sisters, Cindy Downard and Amy Coffin. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Adrian Marquez, Cidney Newton, Claire Newton, Ava Newton, Asher Newton and Callen Newton; great-grandchildren, Ruby and Carmen Mill.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Cathy Newton, brother, Michael Newton and nephew, Tommy Newton.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 11, 2026 at 1 PM in Moster Mortuary. Friends are welcome to visit the family from Noon until the time of service in the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made out to American Legion Post #150 in Rushville.

Carole Beckner, 83 of Rush County, passed away September 1, 2026 in Shelbyville at Ashford Place. She was born October 29, 1942 in Streator, IL to the late George Offutt and Zelda (Hutchinson) Overleese. Carole was a 1960 graduate of Arlington High School. She married William E. Beckner on March 11, 1961 and he survives. Carole was a member of Arlington Christian Church.
Carole was a tutorial paraprofessional in Rush County Schools for years. She enjoyed attending card club, working puzzles and traveling with her family. Carole loved being a grandma and watching them over the years in activities.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Charlie (Lurinda) Smith of Rush County, Jeff Beckner of Greenfield, IN, Jerry (Sharilyn) Beckner of Gilchrist, TX, Brad (Gina) Beckner of Westfield, IN. She will also be missed by her 8 grandchildren, Elisabeth (Curt) Eaton, David (Emily) Smith, Justin (Kathy) Beckner, Jessica (Kaleb) Berry, Zach (Rachel) Beckner, Jennifer (Morgan) Matney, Kiersten (Will) Owings, and Noah Beckner; 13 great-grandchildren.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents George Offutt and Zelda (Hutchinson) Overleese and brother, Fred Offutt.
Services will be held Friday, September 4, 2026 at 1 PM in Moster Mortuary. Friends are welcome to visit the family from 11 AM until the time of service. Burial will be held in Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Arlington Christian Church in memory of Carole.

Michael Eli Clark, 67, of Rushville, passed away August 29, 2026 in Indianapolis at Franciscan Hospice House. He was born March 5, 1959 in Connersville, IN to the late Eli L. and Nettie Joann (Cloud) Clark. Mike was a 1977 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School. He married Pamela Swango on August 20, 1999 and she preceded him in death on February 12, 2010.
Mike retired in 1999 from Knauf in Shelbyville after 18 years working in shipping and driving a fork truck. He owned and operated the Saloon in Rushville for 7 years with his wife; Pam. Mike was a member of the Rushville Eagles Lodge and Eagle Riders. He was known as the “Family Man”, playing Santa and enjoyed traveling to the mountains.
He is survived by his daughter, Elisha (Gary) Rogers of Connersville and son, Michael J. Clark of Rushville; and sister, Mary Jo Glenn of Dugger, IN. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Addyson Rogers, Garrett Rogers and Kendyl Clark.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, step-mom, Patricia Clark, sister, Debbie Saragusa, and brother-in-law, Mark Glenn.
Services will be held Wednesday, September, 2, 2026 at 1 PM in Moster Mortuary, Rushville with Pastor Ray Sweet presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family in the mortuary on Tuesday evening, September 1, from 4PM-8PM. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Suzanne “Suzie” Lakin Huber, who passed away peacefully August 27, 2026 at the age of 83. She was born November 25, 1942 in Rushville to the late Joseph F. and Eloise (Kelley) Lakin. Suzie was a 1960 graduate of Rushville High School and attended college. She spent 35 years at Copeland Corporation, retiring in 2014. Suzie was a member of Star Baptist Church in St. Paul, Indiana.

Suzie was a woman of intelligence, integrity and quiet strength. Pragmatic, loyal and honest, she valued speaking plainly, listening carefully and treating people with respect. She possessed a remarkable gift of discernment, an ability to see beyond the obvious, understand people deeply and offer thoughtful, practical wisdom. A lifelong learner, she loved discovering new ideas and sharing what she learned. She became an avid collector and knowledgeable enthusiast of Russian nesting dolls, delighting in their history, craftsmanship and symbolism. Suzie was not defined by her illness, but by her mind, her character and the way she connected with others.

Suzie is survived by her daughter, Kelley (Daly) Jones of Shelbyville; grandson, Blaec (Iris) Morgan; great-grandchildren, Mekena, Londyn, Tyson, Cooper and Isabella; brother-in-law, Bruce ( Mary Jo Lankin) Hariton; nephews, Adam & Brett Hariton and her cousin, Lisa Lakin Seaborn.

Lyle R. “Doodie” Schultz, 68 of Rush County, passed away August 23, 2026 in Rush County. He was born December 11, 1957 in Batesville to the late Robert A. and Ruth (Rauch) Schultz. Doodie was a devoted farmer all of his life, enjoyed gardening and weekly poker night with the guys. He also enjoyed trips to the Brookville sale barn, snagging anything free and sharing food was his love language. He found joy in early morning phone calls to family and friends asking about rain fall totals. Doodie will be known for his generous caring soul and how he overcame obstacles in life with his sharp mindset. Doodie was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Doodie is survived by his siblings, Peggy Cooper of Falmouth, David (Toni) Schultz of Falmouth and Richard (Patricia) Schultz of West Harrison; brother-in-law, Brian Bess of Rushville. He will also be missed by his nieces & nephews, Kelsey (John) Gray and their children, Huck, Tess, and Charli; Alexa (Ryan) Welborn and their son, Bear “Grizz”; Heidi (Curtis) Schwering, Brayton Schultz, Bryce Cooper, Andy (Lisa) Schultz, Ben (Meghan) Schultz, Jenny (Kenny) Meyer, Richie (Camille) Schultz, Jill (Adam) Riehle, Michael Schultz and Hannah Schultz and many more great nieces and nephews.
Doodie was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Holly Bess and his buddy dog, Fester.

Lila Ruth Meyer, 86, a lifelong Rush County resident, passed away August 18, 2026 in Indianapolis. Lila was born January 31, 1940 to Roy H. & Carrie (Florence) Sorrell. She was a 1957 graduate of Rushville High School. She married William J. "Doc" Meyer, DVM on July 3, 1970 and he preceded her in death on August 21, 1990.
Lila worked many years for GTE as a telephone operator but most of her working life was spent with her husband at the Rushville Sale Barn where she handled the administrative end of the business.
She loved her Bible and had attended Christ Fellowship Church in Rushville. She had also attended Homer Christian Church and the Assembly of God in Rushville.
Lila loved baking and cooking. She would always have her grandkids favorite candy readily available at her home...one of her biggest joys was being a Granny! Family meant everything to her.
She leaves behind her children; David (Andrea) Miller of Rushville, Stephen (Kathy) Miller of Brookville, Lisa (Scott) Scheid of Indianapolis, Karl Meyer of Rushville, Jeffery (Kristina) Meyer of Noblesville, Laura (Neil) Miller of Rushville and Kira (Aaron) Sutton of Rushville, 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive. Lila was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers; James Sorrell and Roy Wayne Sorrell Sr., sisters; Joan Orme and Norma Hosford.
Private graveside services will be held in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery....

James ‘Lynn’ Addison passed from this life to his heavenly home on Sunday morning, August 2, 2026 at the age of 93 years and 1 week. He was born July 26, 1933 to Don and Marguerite Addison of Knightstown, Indiana. He graduated from Mays High School in 1952, and attended Purdue University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a Master of Science in Education. He married Betty Joan (Browning) on January 8, 1956. She preceded him in death on March 4, 2021. They celebrated 65 years of marriage. She was the joy and love of Lynn’s life.
Lynn served in the U.S. Army at the end of the Korean War then in the National Guard. He taught agriculture for several years and was in management with General Telephone in Terre Haute, Indiana for several years. The majority of his life work involved serving the farming community in various occupations while in Terre Haute and Arlington, Indiana..
He loved the Lord with his whole heart and was very open about that love with family and everyone he talked to. Lynn served in leadership roles at the United Methodist Church, then Maryland Christian Church while in Terre Haute, then at the First Baptist Church in Rushville.
He is survived by four daughters and 2 sons in law: Cheryl (Dan) Eslinger of Hamilton, Ohio, Sharon (Dave) Johnson of Rochester, Illinois, Barbara Hanes of Brownsburg, Indiana and Deborah Addison of Mt. Vernon, Indiana. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 7 great...

William “Bill” Morgan, 88, of Rush County, passed away on July 29, 2026. Born on August 5, 1937, in Rushville, he was the son of William C. & Rosanna (Lower) Morgan. Bill was a 1955 graduate of Rushville High School. On June 4, 1955, he married Joanna Terhune, who preceded him in death on June 13, 2012.
Bill spent his entire life farming in Rush county, a profession he loved and dedicated himself to wholeheartedly. He was a faithful member of Milroy United Methodist Church and served on the Anderson Township Advisory Board.
Bill and Joanna shared a love of travel and especially enjoyed taking trips to the western United States. Family was at the center of Bill’s life. Some of his happiest moments were spent gathering with loved ones at the family pond, creating countless treasured memories that will be cherished for generations.

Pat Combs, 83, of Rushville, passed away July 27, 2026 in Rush Memorial Hospital. Pat was born August 30, 1942 in Cincinnati to W***y & Annabel (Blevins) Dean. She married Carlo Combs in the Laurel Methodist Church on December 8, 1958 and he survives.
Pat was saved and loved Jesus. She and Carlo were active member of Hope Baptist Church in Rushville. Her heart was genuine and she was a loving and caring wife and mother always wanting to make everyone around her happy. She loved Carlo so much and spent her entire life taking care of him. She was a tough person with a tender heart! She had built a very strong relationship with her caregiver, Michanda Smith and her parents, Marvin & Lori Mossor. Pat very much appreciated the people taking care of her and never wanted to be a burden to anyone.
She took care of her family in the home but also worked in the cafeteria at Laurel Elementary School.
Pat will be missed by her husband, Carlo, of Rushville, a son, Michael (Kerri) Combs of Shelbyville, daughters, Jeanie Sullivan of Greenwood, Melissa Spires of Greenwood, Sherry Kordish of San Antonio, TX., a sister, Margarette Dye of Laurel, several grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, W***y Dean & Annabel (Blevins) Dean Ashcraft, son, David Combs, daughter, Terri (Combs) Tanner, granddaughter, Brook Tanner, sister, Betty (Bob) Foster and brother, Charles "Wayne" (Marie) Dean.

Oda Mae Smith, 99, passed away peacefully July 23rd, one day before her 100th birthday with her family by her side at Oakview Assisted Living in Moose Lake. Mae was born July 24, 1926, at the family homestead in Connersville, IN.

When Mae was two, they moved to Rushville, IN and grew up on the family farm. In 1944 Mae married Calvin Smith and together they had three daughters who were Mae’s pride and joy. Everything Mae did, she excelled at. She was a gifted painter and loved painting ceramics. She was also a gifted seamstress, quilter and did beautiful needlework. Mae’s house was the place to be while raising her girls and there were dance parties in the living room more often than not. Mae loved Christmas and always had her entire home decorated to celebrate the season. Mae always had a story to share and had an amazing gift of making those around her feel loved and cherished. She will be missed.

Mae is preceded in death by her parents Albert & Dora Meyer; five siblings and her husband, Calvin of 54 years. She is also preceded in death by her two daughters, Pamela Smith and Marsha Callahan and a grandchild, Brian Smith.
