Most people think I’m just looking for cavities.
The truth? Every dental exam is a little like detective work.
I’m evaluating far more than whether you need a filling. Here are just a few of the things I’m looking for every time I see a patient:
🦷 Patterns of wear that can reveal clenching, grinding, acid erosion, or bite problems.
🧩 How your teeth fit together, because even small bite discrepancies can contribute to cracked teeth, broken crowns, and TMJ discomfort.
😴 Signs of airway concerns that may point toward sleep-disordered breathing or sleep apnea.
👅 Changes in your oral tissues, including a comprehensive oral cancer screening.
🙂 Your face and neck, evaluating jaw joints, muscles, lymph nodes, lips, and even skin lesions that may need further evaluation.
💊 Your medical history and medications, because your overall health directly affects your oral health and treatment options.
🩺 The bigger picture. My goal isn’t just to treat problems—it’s to understand why they happened so we can help prevent the next one.
Dentistry is about so much more than teeth, and that’s one of the things I love most about what I do. 🤍
