Golfer’s Elbow Isn’t Always Just an Elbow Problem ⛳️
Pain on the inside of your elbow doesn’t always start there.
Golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis) is often treated with rest, ice, braces, injections, or strengthening exercises. While those approaches may help manage symptoms, they don’t always address why the tissue became overloaded in the first place.
From a John F. Barnes Myofascial Release perspective, the elbow is often compensating for restrictions elsewhere in the fascial system.
Fascial restrictions may develop from:
✨ Repetitive gripping or lifting
✨ Poor shoulder or wrist mechanics
✨ Scar tissue
✨ Old falls or injuries
✨ Neck or upper back restrictions
✨ Fascial tension through the chest, shoulder, arm, and hand
Because fascia is one continuous system, tension can travel through the entire upper extremity. When one area loses mobility, another area absorbs the stress.
Common symptoms include:
• Pain on the inside of the elbow
• Weak grip strength
• Pain when lifting, twisting, or shaking hands
• Stiffness in the wrist or forearm
• Tenderness around the inner elbow
How Myofascial Release can help:
💜 Releases fascial restrictions throughout the entire kinetic chain—not just the elbow.
💜 Restores mobility to the shoulder, wrist, chest, and neck.
💜 Reduces abnormal tension pulling on the tendon attachment.
💜 Improves circulation and tissue hydration.
💜 Helps the nervous system shift out of protective guarding.
💜 Addresses the body as a whole rather than chasing symptoms.
Sometimes the painful elbow is simply the messenger.
When you stop treating only where it hurts and begin looking at the whole body, healing often becomes more complete.
✨ Treat the cause, not just the symptom.
