This morning I cried at my team meeting River Valley Ob/Gyn
Because, for the first time in 9 months, I felt some relief of the weight on my shoulders.
Nine months ago the other three OB/GYNs left the community, leaving me as the only OB/GYN physician here.
And somehow, I’ve been trying to keep everything moving. I’ve been trying to figure out how to keep everything moving. Patients. Deliveries. Surgery. The practice. The medspa. And mostly the community who is depending on me.
And now also preparing to welcome our baby boy after years of infertility, IVF, loss, and a journey I honestly wasn’t sure would end with a baby.
And somewhere along the way, I stopped noticing how little space there was left for me.
Then last night, something happened that sounds so ordinary:
I slept.
This morning I went to Pilates.
I got coffee.
I ate breakfast.
I stood in the shower for ten minutes…just standing in the warm water.
And I came to work early enough to actually get things done.
None of those things should feel extraordinary.
But they did.
Because I finally have someone who can share the clinical load.
Adding a Certified Nurse Midwife to my practice has shown me something I couldn’t see clearly before:
I don’t necessarily need to work harder. I need to build a practice where I don’t have to carry everything myself.
And for the first time in nine months, I can actually see a way forward.
Today, that felt like enough to make me cry. 🤍
