A recent APA study reported that at least 1 in 5 people (22%) experienced harm to their mental health while at work. Additionally, a little over 3 out of 4 people (77%) reported that their employer perceives the workplace environment as mentally healthier than it actually is, while 9 out of 10 people (92%) stated that it is important to them to work for an organization that values their emotional and psychological well-being. This indicates a disconnect between employers and their employees' needs.
I recently had the opportunity to provide training on "The Effect of Dysfunctional Work Environments on Mental Health," where I discussed strategies that employees, leadership teams, and organizations can use to create an inclusive mental health environment for all.
