Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary Sabinal

Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary Sabinal Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary, Inc. began in 1959 as Frazar Funeral Home, owned and operated by M.Watson Frazar. The funeral home is located at 220 S. and Wm.

Getty Street, just two blocks from the town’s main intersection, which also happens to be the intersection of the two longest highways in the United States. In 1966, Frazar sold his Uvalde and Sabinal locations to Lon M. Rushing, Jr. Claude Estes. In 1972, Bryson Knowles joined the firm as a partner and the firm became known as Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary, Inc. In 1974, a major addition was add

ed to the Uvalde location. Additional property was acquired and the firm added a new and much larger chapel, music room, family room, state room, flower room, lobby and restrooms. The additional real estate acquired also provided for an expanded parking lot. Lon Rushing sold his stock in the corporation and retired in 1975. In 1997, another major addition took place which added much larger, handicapped-accessible restrooms as well as two additional staterooms. In March of 2000, Claude Estes retired due to poor health. Bryson Knowles is still active in the business. Knowles is a native of Uvalde and has been in Uvalde funeral service for over 40 years. One of the unique characteristics of Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary, Inc. is the fact that all of the employees are local people who grew up in Uvalde County, attended school in Uvalde County, and their families and friends are all local people. It nice to know that when the need arises for a funeral director, you will be served by someone from your very own community.

Veterans may be eligible for certain benefits, including burial and memorial honors, but these benefits are not always automatically arranged.

Planning ahead can help ensure your wishes are clearly documented and that the recognition you’ve earned is carried out the way you intend.
