Just now having time to process the success from our ‘Breastfeeding Stories and Wisdom Over Lunch’ event. Like our ancestors used to gather and share maternal wisdom and heal in community, this space had moments of our breastfeeding joys, struggles, advice and healing. This year’s Black Breastfeeding Week theme was ‘We All We Got’ and I felt that in the stories of injustices that were paired with stories of community support coming through. Our guests left with a packet of lactation and mental health resources, coloring sheets and breastfeeding stickers. Overall I left feeling inspired and ready to continue my work of lactation support and health equity (plus nourished from the delicious Caribbean food from ( Calabash Caribbean Restaurant )

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY!

For the last 10+ years we have hosted the Baby Lounge at the Sacramento County Fair and we look forward to hosting this wonderful space again this year but we NEED your help!

What is the Baby Lounge?
The Baby Lounge is a clean, private space for parents to nurse or pump while visiting the fair. There is also a changing table available for changing diapers.

How can you help?
Sign up to be a Baby Lounge host. Shifts are only 3 hours long and each volunteer receives free parking and admission. Plus you get to connect with your community. This is a rewarding experience as all of the nursing families who use the lounge are very grateful for the space.

SBC members Bridget, Maggie (Political Liaison Chair) and Kavisa (President) represented at CRP WIC’s celebration this past Friday. 1,343 ounces were donated that day and our drive continues until May 31.

Rooted Together: a and collaboration that reaffirmed that I’m on the right path and living my purpose. I opened my yoga class with parenthood themed affirmations and Adinkra symbol based reflections, pelvic floor engagement and breath work then asana flow. Grateful for these opportunities to provide a space for wellness.
