“On the outside, we have to look like we have this parenting thing all figured out. Getting out the door without a meltdown. 🏃♀️ Five-course, whole-food meals on the table every day. 🍽️ The “perfect” extracurriculars planned to the minute.
And somewhere in there, we’re still supposed to meet our own needs too. When you lay it all out like that, feeling fulfilled sounds almost impossible.😮💨
But here’s the truth: no one expects perfection. ✨ We already carry enough, including the quiet fear that we’re not connected enough to our kids. That fear alone can leave us feeling depleted. 💔
Most parents who feel disconnected from their families aren’t lacking love. It’s the opposite: we give so much of ourselves to love and care for our families that we forget to do the same for ourselves.
So if you go out for food and drinks with friends. Or take the long way home from the grocery store just for a few extra minutes of quiet. That’s not you stepping away from your family. That’s you showing up for them, in all the wonderful, courageous, strong ways you already do. 💪 Just this time, with a little more clarity and peace.” 🕊️
