Hello Folks,
Many of you were heartbroken with the news that Matthew Perry died. It is a tragedy. Today, the autopsy report was released and it appears he died of "acute effects of Ketamine." It appears the high dose of Ketamine (a dissociative anesthetic) was taken before getting into a swimming pool where he drowned. While, by report, he did receive a Ketamine infusion for depression and anxiety (which has risks, though minimal), his last supervised Ketamine infusion was 1.5 weeks before his death. Ketamine is a fast acting medication that has a short half life of about 2-4 hours. What that means is that Matthew Perry ingested Ketamine outside the protocols of established supervised treatment and drowned. This is truly tragic, but not the result of having Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. If you have received Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy at The Attach Place, I want to put your fears and questions at ease. I will restate it. Matthew Perry ingested Ketamine outside the establish supervised Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy protocol and it cost him his life. Ketamine is a serious Schedule 3 controlled substance. It should only be taken as prescribed by a medical professional and supervised during treatment by a licensed mental health professional. Any other form of Ketamine use is illegal and can be fatal, as it was in this case. If you have questions or concerns, please contact me at [email protected]. I want to support you to understand the risks and benefits.

Veterans who say traditional pharmaceuticals have failed to heal their mental scars are traveling south of the border to Mexico to use psychedelics they claim are giving them drastic results. CBS News contributor Lisa Ling reports.

CBS recently did a three-part series on therapeutic psychedelic treatments. I offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) at The Attach Place in Sacramento, CA. KAP is wrap-around therapy that includes low-dose Ketamine in conjunction with psychotherapy for those who have struggled with depression, anxiety and posttraumatic stress. Check out the first part of the series and email me at [email protected] for more information.

Voters in Colorado legalized the use of psychedelic mushrooms last year. Now, groups of women gather at specialized retreats to use the ancient substance to try to cure modern ills. CBS News contributor Lisa Ling reports.
