August is National Immunization Awareness Month! 💉

Vaccines are one of the best ways to protect yourself, your family, and your community from serious illnesses.

August is a great time to check whether you and your loved ones are up to date on recommended vaccines.

🟢 Protecting Children Against Measles

Measles is a highly contagious disease that spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It can cause serious health complications, especially in young children.

The MMR vaccine helps protect against measles, mumps, and rubella. Make sure you and your children are up to date on recommended vaccines—especially before traveling.

🔵 Back-to-School Vaccines for Preteens & Teens

As students head back to school, it’s a great time to make sure preteens and teens are up to date on recommended vaccines. Vaccines help protect them from serious diseases today while providing lasting protection for the future.

A back-to-school checkup is also a great opportunity to ask your healthcare provider about recommended vaccines, including:

✔ HPV vaccine to help prevent certain types of cancer
✔ Tdap vaccine to help protect against tetanus, diphtheria, and whooping cough
✔ Meningococcal (MenACWY) vaccine to help protect against meningococcal disease

🟣 Vaccines Aren’t Just for Kids

Adults also need to stay up to date on recommended vaccines. Depending on your age, health, lifestyle, work, or travel plans, you may need certain vaccines, including protection against Hepatitis B and other preventable diseases.

📋 Not sure which vaccines you or your child may need? ❓

Talk to your healthcare provider and review your immunization record. Your care team can help you understand which vaccines are recommended for you and your family.

☎️ To schedule a vaccination appointment at Elica Health Centers, please call 916-454-2345.

Protect yourself. Protect your family. Protect your community. 💜
