August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM)! Vaccines are one of the best ways to protect ourselves and those around us from preventable illnesses.

Every day, skilled nursing facility teams help keep residents safe by reviewing vaccination status, educating residents and families, monitoring immunization records, and coordinating or administering recommended vaccines. Their ongoing commitment helps create a healthier, safer environment for everyone in their care.

Healthcare workers also play a vital role by staying up to date on their own recommended immunizations, which helps ensure the residents, co-workers, and loved ones remain protected.

This month, please take a moment to check that you, your loved ones, and your residents are current on recommended vaccines.

We’re down to the last day of the CAHF/QCHF 2026 Summer Conference!

Oh, nothing much happened during the event...just hundreds of long-term care superstars taking over San Diego for a few days. You know, just a little bit of incredible energy, empowerment, inspiration, networking, laughter, and enough learning to bring back ideas that will make their facilities even stronger.

No biggie...okay, who are we kidding? This conference has been a HUGEie! From start to finish, yesterday was packed with expert-led sessions addressing the challenges currently shaping the skilled nursing sector.

Keynote speaker Jeff Whithorn, CEO of Whithorn Coaching & Consulting LLC, shared practical strategies for implementing "Culture CPR" to strengthen workplace culture, develop effective leaders, and improve employee retention. Also, CAHF Vice President for Policy Yvonne Choong and Jennifer Snyder of Capitol Advocacy provided an overview of current legislation affecting long-term care.

The day concluded with a reception for Nursing Home Leader Academy (NHLA) future leaders and alumni, where attendees shared experiences, and learned how the award-winning program helps develop the next generation of skilled nursing leaders.

We're grateful to everyone who made this gathering another memorable experience!

What an incredible Day 2 at the CAHF/QCHF 2026 Summer Conference in San Diego! The day was filled with strategic discussions, memorable celebrations, and plenty of fun.

CAHF CEO/President Cassie Dunham opened the day with an update on the latest developments shaping skilled nursing, highlighting how the sector is evolving and moving forward.

Additionally, leadership expert Patrick Dunn shared practical strategies for leading with purpose, preventing burnout, and building stronger, more resilient teams. Also, our panel of experts helped attendees understand the legal and operational impact of AI in facilities.

In the afternoon, we recognized outstanding leaders during the Awards Lunch, explored innovative products and services at the Sip & Stroll Table-Top Show, and wrapped up the evening with high-energy fun, raising funds for a great cause at Casino Night.

We're off to a great start in San Diego!

Yesterday, the CAHF/QCHF 2026 Summer Conference kicked off four days of insightful education, thought-provoking discussions, and valuable networking focused on the sector's most important issues.

The 2026 Nursing Home Leader Academy converged at the conference, already bringing together the next generation of long-term care leaders for meaningful learning, collaboration, and professional growth.

In the early evening, sunny skies and a refreshing coastal breeze set the tone for the HPSI-sponsored "Sailing into Summer" Welcome Reception - a perfect way to launch an incredible week together.

Best of all, we're just getting started! The next three days will be packed with dynamic sessions, expert speakers, and exciting events designed to help you connect with colleagues and bring back valuable tools to your facility.
