Sunscreen is regulated as a drug in the U.S., so brands still need time to formulate, test, manufacture, and distribute FDA-compliant products.

I’ll be speaking at American Society of Mohs Surgery annual meeting in Charleston, SC tomorrow on Modifier Makeover in Dermatologic Surgery & Laser Practices.

Mohs surgery is a special skin cancer surgery technique in which thin layers of tissue are removed and examined under the microscope until the cancer is cleared. This allows dermatologic surgeons to treat skin cancer while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible, especially in cosmetically sensitive areas like the nose, lips, and eyelids.

Lasers may improve some Mohs surgery scars.

Grateful for the opportunity to connect with colleagues committed to advancing dermatologic care.

Korean-Style Sunscreens are Making Their U.S. Debut… But It Won’t Happen Instantly! ☀️ How long until we see sunscreen brands roll out those innovative bemotrizinol formulations? With the FDA’s green light, I’m anticipating the arrival of these U.S.-approved gems in the near future. The first wave of products might just come from companies that are already ahead of the curve! My next video will talk about this question," Will Korean and European sunscreens that contain bemotrizinol immediately be available in the U.S.?"

The U.S. sunscreen aisle may finally be getting an upgrade and dermatologists have been waiting for this.
America is finally catching up on sunscreen. as a Korean American dermatologist, I can say: this is overdue.
In Korea, Australia, and Europe, patients have had access to newer sunscreen filters for years. Many of those formulas feel lighter, smoother, less chalky, and easier to reapply throughout the day.
Why does that matter? Because the best sunscreen is not just the one with the highest SPF it’s the one you will actually wear every single day.
Expanding FDA sunscreen options could mean more elegant formulas, better UVA/UVB protection, less white cast, and more people using sunscreen consistently.
This is good news for skin health, skin cancer prevention, and anyone who has ever said, “I hate the way sunscreen feels. it's too thick and greasy.”

Bimotrizinol approved today 6/9/2026. More information to come.

“Does Red light therapy actually work? “

Everyone’s been asking about LED masks lately.
Yes, they do work but not in the way most people think.

At-home LED masks are for supportive skincare.
It doesn't replace in-office lasers/energy-based devices.
For noticeable improvement, in-office lasers are still in a completely different category.

Korean vitamin C products often feel different not because they’re automatically better, but because the formulation philosophy is often different: more emphasis on tolerability, texture, layering, and daily use.
