In Memory of Mary Pagonakis May 23, 1935 - August 6, 2026

Mary Pagonakis passed away peacefully at her home on August 6, 2026, surrounded by her family, at the age of 91. Mary was an inspiration to her children, Ava and Joe; her grandchildren, Max, Mia, Nick, and Nina; and to her extended family, friends, and fellow parishioners at St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church for decades.

Mary was defined by her constant devotion to helping others and by keeping our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at the center of her life in all that she accomplished and enjoyed. Born in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, her family then moved to Warren Ohio where Mary grew up.

She later met the love of her life, Mike Pagonakis, and together they moved to Cleveland, where she began her career as a cashier. Mary was known for always greeting everyone with a warm smile and engaging them in light conversation. Her dedication to helping and encouraging others continued throughout her working life, and she later trained and mentored aspiring cashiers through the Parma City School District’s Career Tech/Adult Education Program.

Her primary, life-long focus, in providing assistance to the needy, was anchored by more than a decade as the President of the St. Paul Ladies Philoptopchos Society, and many more years as a key member, where she took the lead in the donation of tens-of-thousands in charitable dollars to help countless families with food, clothing, shelter and more. Mary's effort in improving the lives of hundreds earned her the distinguished St. Photios Award presented by His Eminence Metropolitan Savas of Pittsburgh in 2017.

Mary would also play a key role in the development of Cleveland's St. Mary of Egypt Orthodox Food Pantry, taking part in the distribution of food, clothing and household goods to hundreds of families every month.

Filled with the Holy Spirit, contagious smile, and a consistent positive can-do energy, Mary touched the lives of hundreds more as part of the Visitor Ambassador Service at the UH Parma Medical Center, providing assistance and spiritual support to patients and families coping with difficult heath challenges.

Mary Pagonakis (nee Diakakis); 91 was the beloved wife of the late Mike Pagonakis for more tha 40 years. Mary was the loving mother of Joe (Jody), and Ava Yeager (Connor).

She was the cherished grandmother of Nicholas, Nina (Alexander Treon), Maxwell (Anne), and Mia. She is survived by her dearest sisters Constantina Stacy and Marina Sidells (Dennis), as well as the late Dorothy Digiovanni (the late Benedetto), late Marsha Marinelli (late Raymond), and the late Anthony Diakakis (late Clara). Mary was the aunt and great aunt of many and dear godmother.

The family suggests memorial contributions in Mary’s name to The St. Paul Benevolent Fund c/o St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church online, The St. Paul Ladies Philoptopchos Society, or St. Mary of Egypt Orthodox Food Pantry 4345 State Rd. Cleveland, OH 44109.

Family and friends are asked to gather Tuesday, August 11th at St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church 4548 Wallings Rd. North Royalton where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM. VISITATION TUESDAY AT CHURCH 9:30AM UNTIL TIME OF SERVICES. Interment Rose Hill Burial Park 3653 W. Market St. Akron at 1:00PM. Loving husband of the late Joanne “Josie” (nee Romanini); devoted father of Kim Rosselot (Garry), Melissa Anderson (James), and the late Greg Jr.; cherished grandfather of Kaitlyn, Kyle, Madeline, Cale, Jordan, and Allison; adored great papa of Kyleigh and Kendall. Greg is the son of the late Edward and Anne Urbanek. He is the brother of the late Edward Brian Urbanek, Jeffery Urbanek (Stephanie), Claudia Monroe (Steve deceased), and Nancy Whyle (Sam). In Memory of KENNETH ROBERT SINDELAR 10/31/1941 - 07/29/2026. Ken passed away peacefully at his home attended by his devoted wife of 44 years Barbara (Roberto). He is survived by his loving children Guy (Natalie), Lisa and Sean (Carla). He is cherished grandfather to Jacob (Miranda), Abby, Julianna. Colin, Luca, Presley, Nina and Nicole and great grandfather to Aria, Macy, Meelah, Leo and Maleena. Ken is also survived by his brother James (Sophie) and Uncle to Diane, Brian, Kelly, Charlene and Michael. Ken was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Anna (Mencin). He will be greatly missed by his longtime friends Tom Provateare, Jim Brucato, Lenny Piazza and all his "brothers" from the Warrensville Heights and Cleveland Police Departments. Ken proudly served his country enlisting in the US Navy from 1962-1966 after which he entered the Police Academy serving the City of Warrensville Heights as Police Officer and then Detective. In Memory of DR. JONATHAN J. KLEMENT age 87 of Sagamore Hills, Ohio passed away on July 27, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn (nee Kuehl); the loving father of Scott (Diana) and Steven (Connie); cherished grandfather of Shawn (Nichole), Steven (Aimee) and Cristina; great-grandfather of Shiloh and Charlotte; son of the late Joseph and Emma (nee Griepp); dear brother of the late Hyacinth Badalamente (David) and David Klement.

Jon was born in Shawano, Wisconsin on March 26, 1939, and attended Bonduel High School. At age 16 he won a Ford Foundation scholarship and went on to the University of Wisconsin at Madison to study Chemical Engineering. While at the university he completed two years of Air Force ROTC. He graduated in four years and obtained a position with Standard Oil of Ohio (Sohio) at the Warrensville Research Center in 1960. On June 18, 1960 Jon and Marilyn began 66 years of marriage.

At the research center, Jon helped pilot the oxidation of propylene to acrolein and later developed latex paints and polyacrylonitrile packaging film. On leave of absence from 1966 – 69, he earned a master’s degree in chemical engineering and a doctorate in macromolecular science from Case Institute of Technology (now CWRU). He went into management and held positions including manager at Kennecott Copper Mine, President of Colonial Pipeline, General Manager of Marine Transportation, Director of Development Engineering and Information Sciences Laboratory. At the end of his career he was Director of the Sohio BP Research and Development Laboratory in Warrensville Heights.

Flying was his passion; he obtained his pilot's license in 1962 and bought a Cessna 182 in 1982. He used his plane to visit his extended family in Wisconsin, Tennessee, Maryland, and Georgia, as well as go on adventures flying up canyons in the Rockies. Jon retired at the age of 53 and became an entrepreneur by making his flying hobby into a business. He formed Skywatch, Inc. in 1992 and contracted to fly over pipelines looking for leaks and unauthorized digging. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA).

Always an adventurer, he traveled to all 50 states and 19 different countries. He loved planning unique family vacations. Rafting down the Colorado river, fishing in Canada, rafting down the Selway river in Idaho on the outfitters trial run, encounters with bears and wolfs while driving to Alaska, taking a seaplane to a cabin on a lake on an island that had more grizzly bears than people, and snorkeling in Hawaii and Mexico. Marilyn and Jon were invited to Korea where Marilyn was privileged to christen an oil tanker at the Hyundai Corporation shipyard.

He was an avid gardener, bicyclist, and fisherman. In 2002 he helped create the Greenwood Village community garden. He led his family on bike camping trips across Wisconsin and Ohio Amish country and pedaled with his nephew David around the Leelanau Peninsula in Michigan and biked across the south of France with his friend Dave. Jon loved taking his small boat on Lake Erie with his buddies and coming home with perch and walleye for dinner or spending winters fishing off his boat in Cape Coral Florida.

He served over 30 years on the Board of Greenwood Village and led the creation of the current architectural rules for Greenwood as chair of the architectural committee.

He was a videographer before there was video, presenting his Super8 films as part of the Sohio Speakers’ Bureau.

He shared his parents love for God and brought up his family to share his deep faith. He loved singing in the choir and served on the board of elders. He was also known for his sense of humor and loved practical jokes. He provided a warm home for his family filled with love and laughter.
