•Favorite moment/memory of OT school so far?
There are so many favorite memories from OT school, but I think my favorites are when we make interventions specific to our clients both in case studies and when we get to do them in fieldwork. It is so rewarding when we make something so simple into something fun for our clients to do.

•Favorite occupations?
My favorite occupations are baking and cooking, hiking, soccer, and traveling with my friends and family.

•What is one piece of advice for future MSOT students?
One piece of advice I have for future MSOT students is to make it fun. This program is going to be challenging at times but at the end of the day, remember that OT is fun. Enjoy the time you spend making new friends in the program and take the time to make your projects and interventions fun because if you find it fun, your clients probably will too.

•What practice setting(s) are you interested in?
The settings I am interested in are pediatrics (outpatient or school) and neuro. While these are my interests right now, I think I could be happy in any setting and look forward to learning about new settings in my level 2 fieldwork placements.

Meet Adrianna Ellis!

•Favorite moment/memory of OT School so far?
My favorite moments throughout the program have been the different labs I've been a part of. My favorite labs were the PAMs lab, splinting, KT taping and the most recent KAWA model lab. I loved that they were hands on activities, and I got to do them with my amazing friends I met in the program!

•Favorite occupations?
I love reading, roller-skating, hanging out with friends and family, going out to eat, watching new girl, and hiking in the summer!

•What is one piece of advice for future MSOT students?
My biggest piece of advice is to believe in yourself. Making it into the program is difficult and a big accomplishment. Know that if you were able to work hard and do that, that you can get through graduate school. Another piece of advice is to make friends and rely on them in the program. My friends in the program have been my biggest supporters and I couldn't have made it this far without them!

•What practice setting(s) are you interested in?
I really enjoyed my inpatient rehab fieldwork placement and could see myself doing that, however I am open to new experiences as well!

Say hello to Summer Perkins!

•Favorite moment/memory of OT school so far?
It’s really hard to pick just one memory! I love that I have been able to build lasting relationships with a group of friends I can really rely on and celebrate the victories with. I also have had the opportunity to create and implement a few different activities at fieldwork, which was really rewarding. Watching a client successfully complete something you created is simply an indescribable feeling.

•Favorite occupations?
I really love being outdoors during the summer. I enjoy leisure reading and creative writing when I have the time for it. I love traveling, being with my friends and family, going boating, and annual tubing trips on the river!

•What is one piece of advice for future MSOT students?
The best advice I have is to put yourself out there, especially during fieldwork. Your educators have so much information to share and in my experience, they have been really kind and supportive. I also really suggest making a creative occupational activity for your clients at fieldwork, even if it isn’t required of you. I know it can be challenging to find time for activities you don’t have to do, but I have made some really great activities for clients, and it truly has been so rewarding to use something I personally made for them.

•What practice setting(s) are you interested in?
I am 100% committed to pediatrics! I find working with kids to be so rewarding and I can’t imagine myself in any other setting! I found occupational therapy through my love for helping children!

•Favorite moment/memory of OT school so far?
There have been so many great memories throughout OT school but some of my favorites come from fall semester during the first year. The classes were so interesting, and I loved being able to build amazing friendships. I will never forget how excited we felt after successfully completing our finals/practical's. I wouldn’t have wanted to do any of it without them!

•Favorite occupations?
Some of my favorite occupations include hanging out with friends and family, boating, traveling, working out, shopping, and spending time outdoors.

•What is one piece of advice for future MSOT students? The program is very challenging and can be overwhelming but remember to always take time for yourself and reach out to loved ones for support (and second/third year students). There is nothing more rewarding than working hard and being able to share that success with others. If you have earned a spot in the program, make the most out of it, as it will not go unnoticed!! 🙂

•What practice setting(s) are you interested in?
Pediatrics (outpatient and school setting)

Say hello to Jessica Dillon, one of our in-service coordinators!

•Favorite moment/memory of OT school so far?
There have been so many great memories in the program, it's hard to choose just one! Some of my favorite though include making splints in our orthopedics course and making lifelong friendships with my peers. As stressful as grad school is, I have so many great memories with my friends preparing for lab practicals, celebratory trips to Coco Loco after finals, and study sessions with Liz's kahoots.

•Favorite occupations?
I love painting/being creative, traveling, reading, watching new girl, hiking and camping, volleyball, and spending time with my friends, family and corgi puppies!

•What is one piece of advice for future MSOT students?
Get involved as much as you can! You get out of this program what you put into it so take every opportunity to learn something new, push yourself out of your comfort zone, and gain any additional experience. This applies to friendships too. Put yourself out there and don't be afraid to talk to new people because you have the chance to make so many new and forever friendships.

•What practice setting are you interested in?
Ortho/hands or neuro! I also love working with geriatrics and thanks to my current fieldwork placement, I have a newfound interest in memory care.

•Favorite moment/memory of OT school so far?
My favorite memory in the OT program so far is my Kahoot study sessions with my friends. I make Kahoots for the large exams for our classes and some of my friends will get together and do them. I love making them and it's always a lot of fun!

•Favorite Occupations?
Some of my favorite occupations include hanging out with my friends and family, watching TV and Movies, reading, listening to podcasts, knitting, and crocheting.

•What is one piece of advice for future MSOT students?
One piece of advice for future MSOT students is to engage with your classmates because that is how you make some great friends for life. Having a great support group within the program and outside of the program is what helps you push through to the finish line.

•What practice setting are you interested in?
I am interested in experiencing all practice settings and currently do no have my heart set on any specific setting. Some settings that I have not had experience with and would like to include outpatient orthopedics, inpatient rehab, and school OT.

Meet our treasurer, Katie Overbeek!

•Favorite moment/memory of OT school so far?
I’ve really enjoyed seeing myself and my classmates grow throughout our class and fieldwork experiences. From semester to semester, there is a very noticeable change in how we present ourselves and our profession, and it has been such a great experience to be a part of!

•Favorite occupations?
I grew up on the west side of the state, so being in the sunshine near Lake Michigan always makes me happy! I also love to spend time with family and friends, try new foods, and enjoy afternoon naps!

•What is one piece of advice for future MSOT students?
It will be tough, but you will be so proud of your accomplishments! Reach out to your loved ones for support when you need it, because everyone needs some good, reliable people on their team. You are strong and capable – you’ve got this!(:

•What practice setting(s) are you interested in?
As of now, I am very interested in hands and pediatrics – I got lucky enough to have one of each for my Level II fieldworks!

Get to know Grace Collison!

•Favorite moment/memory of OT school so far?
I have had so many great memories throughout OT school! Overall my favorite memory is making my closest friends. One of my favorites in class would be making splints.

•Favorite occupations?
I love being outdoors, especially on the water boating up north. I love to read books too when I have the time to. My favorite occupation overall is hanging out with my friends and family!

•What is one piece of advice for future MSOT students?
My biggest advice to MSOT students is that you get out of the program what you put into it. Make yourself involved, volunteer with the community, and make connections with the professors! The professors all want you to succeed, so communication is key if there is anything that you don’t understand. Overall just trust that you are here for a reason and you will do great!

•What practice setting(s) are you interested in?
I am interested in both Neuro and Ortho settings. The population I especially love working with is geriatrics!
