From inpatient rehabilitation to outpatient therapy, Josh McDougall from Chesaning, MI keeps moving forward. 🧡

Josh came to Mary Free Bed at Covenant HealthCare in June after experiencing a stroke that caused left-sided weakness. When he first arrived, he required assistance from two people for transfers.

But with determination, motivation and a willingness to put in the work, Josh made incredible progress. By the time he left inpatient rehabilitation, he had advanced to needing only supervision assistance. 💪

As a youth baseball coach, Josh knows what it means to show up, put in the work and encourage others. Throughout his own recovery, he has brought that same determination and positive attitude to his therapy. Now, it’s our turn to cheer him on as he continues moving forward with his recovery in outpatient therapy. ⚾

And as a proud Michigan State fan, we know he has plenty of green and white spirit behind him, too! 🤍💚

We’re proud of you, Josh! Your determination has been incredible to watch, and it’s amazing to see how far you’ve come. Keep moving forward! 👏

What a summer it’s been for adaptive sports! 💪🚴‍♀️

From kayaking and pickleball to our first Functional Fitness class, we’ve had an incredible summer helping our community get active, try something new and return to what they love.

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers and community partners who helped make it all possible. We’re thrilled to continue growing adaptive sports throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region! 🧡

After experiencing a stroke, Rose from Saginaw, Michigan, arrived at Mary Free Bed at Covenant HealthCare unable to move the left side of his body. Through therapy and plenty of determination, he continued making progress throughout his recovery.

One milestone came just 8 days into his therapy, when Rose was able to lift his arm and leg again.

“Only therapy helped me get that. I can squeeze my hand again. I used to have no pressure.”

Rose knew something wasn’t right when he experienced his stroke, and he advocated for himself by asking to be taken to the hospital. With a family history of diabetes, he was determined to take his health seriously and give his recovery everything he had.

Rose, your determination is inspiring. We’re cheering you on as you begin your next chapter! 🧡🌹
