👀Myopia (nearsightedness): What is it, and why is it important?

Myopia, also called nearsightedness, is a disease in which a person experiences blurry distance vision, usually caused by the eyeball growing longer than expected.

How prevalent is Myopia?
Myopia is becoming increasingly prevalent, with more than half of the world’s population expected to be affected by 2050. Factors that increase the likelihood of developing myopia include family history, ethnicity, outdoor activity, and time spent on close-up activities, such as screen time and reading.

What may be some of the signs and symptoms of Myopia?
