A quote from Dan Gable says: “After wrestling, everything else comes easy.” That may be true, but my workouts are definitely far from easy. I workout differently, and I get different results. No one talks about how motivation is actually a limiting factor.

I meant with a prospect client a few weeks ago & after asking me a few questions she mentioned to me “how do you do it all?” Most people would anticipate the answer of this question to be because I’m motivated. But that’s not completely accurate.

Truth told, If I relied on motivation all the time, I would fall short. The reason I’m able to balance everything is because of discipline.

There’s so many mornings I want to hit snooze at 4AM.
There’s many days where I don’t feel like hitting my lifts.
There’s many days where I just want to completely fall off the wagon with my nutrition.

But, discipline keeps me going. I know I have goals in place. I know where I want to be. So when motivation stops, I remember this.

The wellness scene is oversaturated & super confusing at times. Here's a few things I would dial in on if I was looking to make some solid gains:

1️⃣- Find ways to add to your nutrition, not restrict. This could be as simple as adding a serving of fruits/veggies to a meal. This could also look like adding an additional snack in to help you meet your nutrition goals. Your body will thank you for not restricting.

2️⃣- Make sure you have a solid sleep routine in place. Try to go to bed & wake up every day at the same time. Doing so helps to keep your circadian rhythm on track, which helps to promote hormone regulation, digestion & body temperature. We also want to make sure we're getting 6-8 hours of sleep a night. The body needs time to recovery.

3️⃣- Prioritize hydration! Hydration is important for MANY reasons & unfortunately we just don't generally focus on it. Aim for 120oz/day.

4️⃣- Our bodies are made to move. Give your body what it needs. This doesn't have to be a hard core workout everyday. It could be as simple as a walk during your lunch break.

Over the past few years, I’ve let my passions sit aside.

Primarily because trying to grow a business & balancing a full time job at the same time is hard ass work. During this time, one thing I’ve struggled with is making time for the things I enjoy.

Flash back to about a year ago, I decided to start running again. I use to LOVE running. I remember as a teen waking up early on Saturdays to go run 5k with my mom & placing at a good portion of them. But then, the love was lost.

Running then became the tool I used to cut weight for wrestling. I would go & run on the treadmill for hours post wrestling practice with my body covered in trash bags with my sweats tied so tight no heat would leave. Just to shed those 3 pounds to make weight for the next day.

As I’m sure you know by now, C**t & I truly love exploring & being outside. Most of vacations include some form of waterfall chasing, mountain climbing or fishing.

Well, we have now officially found a way to combine those 2 activities. We have both decided to sign up for our first trail. The next few months will be exciting & probably a little scary as we venture into this new hobby.

Cheers to spending the next 4 months training for 4,242 ft of elevation gain over 16.3 miles 🤟🏽
