Sherry Ann Curlee, 63, of Hastings, passed away at her home on August 24, 2026.
Sherry was born and raised in Gouverneur, New York. She dedicated her entire working life to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She found great fulfillment in caring for the elderly and began her career at Grace Barker Nursing Home in Massachusetts. She later continued her calling in St. Augustine, Florida, working at St. Johns Health Care Center and The Ponce.
Sherry had a generous heart and cherished her family deeply. Although she did not have children of her own, she loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own and took many of them under her wing. She treasured the time she spent with her family and leaves behind countless memories that will be cherished for years to come.
An avid animal lover, Sherry shared her home with her four beloved Chihuahuas, who brought her much happiness and companionship.
Sherry was tough, independent, and a true free spirit. She lived life on her own terms and faced challenges with strength and determination. Her favorite saying, “Mind over matter,” was a reflection of the strength that carried her throughout her life.
Sherry is survived by her spouse, Bernie Curlee; her sisters, Bonnie Kirby and Monalisa Kirby; her brothers, Daryll Kirby and Richard McIntosh, many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
