I’m honored to share that Book of the Silenced has been selected for Indie Author Project Select, recognizing it among the best independent books submitted to the program.

This book carries three wars: the one I survived in Bosnia, the one I fought for my son within the American health care system, and the one waged in the spirit realm.

For a story about being unheard, the opportunity to reach more readers through libraries holds special meaning. May it find the parent, patient, or caregiver who needs to know they are not alone.

Thank you to everyone who has helped carry this story forward. I’ll share library access details as they’re confirmed.

Reading this in the latest Sarasota Fiction Writers newsletter made my heart smile.

Mark Mathes, President of Sarasota Fiction Writers, wrote about Book of the Silenced:

“The most stunning award-winning memoir is Book of the Silenced by Gordana Smith of St. Augustine.”

There is something very special about having someone outside your own circle read the story you poured your heart into and recognize what it is really about.

Thank you, Mark, for your beautiful words and for seeing Book of the Silenced for what I hoped it would become.

A story that goes far beyond my family, and hopefully gives a voice to many others who have felt silenced along the way. ❤️

12 seizures since 2:00 AM.

I am exhausted. Sleep-deprived. Bone-tired. But I took a shower, found my strength, and I’m keeping my promise to show up and stand for Mikey’s truth. Nothing will stop me from sharing his story.

If you missed getting your book signed, please come see me today! I’ll be at Coconut Barrel from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. I would love the chance to meet you, connect with you, and sign your copy. 🤍📖

Every book sold and every GoFundMe donation brings us one step closer to getting Mikey the stem cell treatment he needs.

Thank you for standing with us, sharing his story, and being part of this journey.
