Dad is not a paid actor. He’s a real life case study with knee osteoarthritis and a 35 year old unrepaired ACL tear. Today we are doing objective testing for his lower body strength.
A year ago he insisted he needed to have an MRI done despite me telling him they would likely find degenerative changes and signs of knee OA that would respond well to a rehab program 💁🏻♀️
I told him he needed to supplement his pilates routine with strength training if he wanted symptom improvement. He went along with MRI and gel injections anyway.
Symptoms persisted and he was convinced it was time for total knee replacement. He started going to the gym and lifting to supplement his reformer classes —he texted me with shock that he could walk the dogs without pain or feeling unstable. He was also surprised that going up and down stairs didn’t hurt like it used to. (I was like wowwww, you don’t say… 🙄)
As a PT, here’s how we did a full strength assessment on the VALD ForceFrame. Check it out. Updated his gym program. Retest again in 6-8 weeks. 🫡
