We’re so excited to finally share this with you…

Hopeology is officially offering Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy 🐴

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been talking about the connection between movement, the nervous system, and healing—and now we’re excited to bring that work into a new therapeutic space.

Equine-assisted psychotherapy is a body-based, experiential approach to therapy that incorporates guided interaction with horses to support emotional awareness, connection, regulation, and healing.

There’s something powerful about stepping outside of a traditional therapy room.

Slowing down.
Reconnecting.
Experiencing therapy in a way that goes beyond words.

Horses are incredibly intuitive and responsive to emotion and presence in real time, which creates meaningful opportunities for insight, awareness, and growth.

Sessions are:
✨ Ground-based (no riding involved)
✨ Guided by a therapist
✨ Designed to support emotional connection and nervous system regulation

This approach may be especially helpful for individuals struggling with:
• Anxiety and stress
• Burnout and overwhelm
• Emotional regulation
• Feeling disconnected from themselves or others

We’re currently accepting clients ages 14+ with limited availability as we launch.

We spend so much time trying to think our way through stress…

But our nervous system doesn’t work like that.

Sometimes what we actually need is to slow down.
To notice.
To reconnect with what’s happening in our body.

Because when we stay stuck in our heads,
we miss the signals our body has been trying to process all along.

There’s a reason being around animals can feel so grounding.
They naturally bring us back into the present moment.

We’ve been working on something behind the scenes that brings more of this into the therapy space…

We’re so excited to welcome Amy Hageman, M.A. back to Hopeology! 💛

Amy is a Doctoral-Level Advanced Extern (PsyD Candidate) returning to us for her final year of training. Many of you may remember her from her previous work here and we are thrilled to have her back in this next phase!

Amy provides therapy for children, teens, adults, and families, with a focus on:

✨ Mind-body & nervous system healing
✨ ADHD, autism & neurodivergent support

When your child is melting down…
what you say matters more than you think.

In those overwhelming moments, most kids aren’t trying to be difficult-they’re struggling to regulate.

And the words we use can either escalate the situation…or help them feel safe enough to calm down.

Here are 3 things to try instead:

🧠 “I can see you’re really upset right now.”
→ (Validation helps their nervous system settle)

🤝 “I’m right here with you.”
→ (Connection before correction)

🌿 “We’ll figure this out together.”
→ (Reduces shame + builds safety)

You don’t have to fix it immediately.
You don’t have to have the perfect response.

Just being a calm, steady presence is often what helps the most.

This week we had the opportunity to spend time with the wonderful community at St Mark's Lutheran Church, and we are so grateful to have been invited.

Wednesday, Jake and Dr. F led an in-service for the teachers on “Big Emotions in Little Bodies,” where we talked about how young children experience big feelings and shared practical strategies to support emotional regulation in the classroom.

Last Night we continued the conversation during the school’s Art & Literacy Night, where Angie and Dr. F hosted a Hopeology table with hands-on activities and resources for families. It was so fun connecting with parents and kids while sharing tools to help children recognize and manage their emotions.

We love partnering with schools and supporting both educators and families as children learn the skills to understand and regulate their emotions.

Thank you to the St Mark's Preschool, St Charles, Il team for welcoming us and for the incredible work you do every day with these little learners.

We’re excited to share that our Hopeology Community Resource Board is now up in our office!

One of our priorities as a practice is helping connect clients and families with trusted resources in our community. Whether it’s other healthcare providers, wellness professionals, educational supports, or local programs, we believe people do best when they have a strong network of support around them.

This board highlights local professionals and services that support the well-being of individuals and families in our area.

We also deeply value collaboration with other providers. Strong community partnerships allow us to better support the people we serve.

Therapists attempting hibachi food catches… turns out this is not a clinical skill. 🥦😂

A little team self-care night for the Hopeology crew. Between the laughs, the flying broccoli, and time together outside the office, we were reminded how important connection is.

We spend our days supporting others, and nights like this help us recharge so we can keep showing up fully for the families and clients we serve. 💛

Taking care of people starts with taking care of the team who supports them.
