It may not be blazing hot today, but it sure is humid!!! 💧
Sweat only cools you when it evaporates. Humid air slows that process, which is why a walk, workout, or afternoon of yard work can feel harder than the temperature suggests. Water replaces the fluid you lose, but it doesn’t cool you down by itself, so slow your pace and take breaks somewhere cool when needed.
If you regularly exercise outdoors, try weighing yourself before and after a typical workout. Use the same scale and towel off first. Every pound you finish lighter represents roughly 16 ounces more fluid lost than replaced. Checking once or twice in similar weather can give you a better idea of your own hydration needs.
For most shorter activities, water and a regular meal afterward are usually enough. Electrolytes are more useful after several hours of heavy sweating, not simply because you exercised or spent some time outside.
Your hydration needs are personal. One quick check can tell you more than following the same goal as everyone else!!!
